Re: What features do you want to see in the Mogul 2?

Realistically? I think a proper incremental release would give us a similar device but
-bigger higher res screen
-thinner form but keep the slide out qwerty
-at the very least 256mb RAM but preferably 512
-all the RAM doesn't matter without a modernized OS. Like it or not but the iPhone really raised the bar for that. If an Android or Ubuntu Mobile or even WinMo 7 came out to keep us up to par then it would be cool
-working GPS out of the box
-working 3d acceleration, maybe via one of nvidia's new mobile chips

I think that with a better form factor/screen, keeping the qwerty, perfecting the gps, and giving us a modern 3d accelerated OS, the successor would be perfectly worth me upgrading. I would love all the crazy 1ghz cpu, 32gb storage ideas floating around out there but eventually you end up with the HTC advantage and you spend a fortune. I want it lean enough that the battery lasts and it's cost effective but I want the key features of phone, web, email, media, gps, etc. to have enough power behind them to work flawlessly out of the box.

Re: What features do you want to see in the Mogul 2?

Yeah i forgot to mention the 3d acceleration. My ancient Dell Axim x50v has a 16mb internal graphics accelerator on it. Heck the 3 year old axim has a faster processor: 625mhz, higher storage capacity with 2 memory slots, VGA screen, bluetooth, IR, wifi, a better touchscreen, just no phone in it. Now take that axim, shrink it down a bit, throw a phone on it, and boom.. i'll have the perfect phone.

Re: What features do you want to see in the Mogul 2?

As an electrical engineer, here are my *realistic* expectations for the ultimate CDMA pocket PC:

-VGA TRANSREFLECTIVE Screen (so i can use it outside)
-3.5mm headphone connector (no more stupid adapters)
-mini-USB for data/charging
-128MB RAM (this already exists in other devices; its more than just cost)
-2GB flash storage
-dedicated video processor (like the axim X51v)
-rev A. (rev B. is a long ways off)
-wifi (802.11g)
-non-telescoping stylus
-sliding keyboard
-SIRFstar III based GPS
-tilt and slide keyboard
-3MP Autofocus camera from the tilt

This is the closest thing on the market now (too bad it's not CMDA): http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phon...fiish-X800.htm

That Glofish would be so much sweeter if A. had a hardware keyboard.. its thick enough you think it would have one, B. CDMA there just isnt enough HSDPA coverage in the US yet, C. more RAM

I want it to be like the Sony XPERIA X1 maybe pumped up a bit. HTC makes it so it shouldnt be too hard.

If its Qualcomm it better be Snapdragon based.

Well you will need that 1Gig of RAM if your "Vista Mobile" is anything like Windows Vista . I would love to see a lean and fast OS rather than just throwing more hardware at things. That way you can keep getting smaller and use less power. I feel like in order to get anything out of these devices we will need some real ground-up innovation in the OS. I don't want to see it end up like the desktop world where OS and software keeps getting more bloated while you have to keep doubling your RAM every couple of years.

Lean, fast, with accelerated graphics! I really look forward to some thin QWERTY devices that can support Ubuntu Mobile.

Hell yeah. I got a regular one that is about the size of a large hardcover book and that thing is great to have around. I bring that and my tablet to peoples' houses to watch movies and mess around while using their wall as a giant screen.

The pocket projectors don't put out nearly as nice a picture but it's a cool way to get an image on the wall from something that fits in your laptop case.

Re: What features do you want to see in the Mogul 2?

GPS that gets 12 satellites quick like moto q9c.

Upgradable ram slot that supports up to ~512/1gb.

Larger higher res screen on flatter device. Perhaps this would reduce need for keyboard.

No internal storage, or internal storage as a Flash ROM that is not writable in normal mode, so that SD card operation for everything will be fully tested.

Dual mico-sd slots would be nice.

Detachable keyboard slide-out module, sold seperately to reduce weight and price.
