Mogul Newbie as of Tuesday.... What is the Most important info needed?

I just got it, it's frustrating, but i can text, i created an email w/ gmail.. I've not been able to download any ringtones or photos for it on the sites i used to use on my older phone, do i have to connect it to my personal pc to bring stuff over? & what part of the book do i have/need to read first? Please just direct me in the right direction please.. Thanks for this forums help in advance.
