I think i have a pretty good handle on it now. What do you need help with?

I believe that it lasts 30 days and then continues to work with some kind of nag notice in the backround.

Are you sure your icons have a version larger than 42? The .ico file contains multiple images in it for different sizes of icons it doesnt dynamicaly scale so the icon would have to 48X48 to go to size 48 etc..

Just a word to anyone trying to use today plugins with UL its probably advisable to backup before you start trying to add things I think doing some things messes up the ini file for UL and freezes your PPC. If you have safe mode you can just uninstall but if not you may need to hard reset, either way you are losing any customization you did you UL.

I uninstalled the IPhone theme using WAD and WAD3, and now I'm getting a notification error about wakeup.exe everytime that I turn my phone on. Any suggestions? The Ultimate Launcher is working great and is quite a bit better, I just need the Notifications to stop.

Running an app like SK Tools or MemMaid may solve this issue, it may be a left over reg entry by WAD.

how do you hide the tabs. also if you have touchflo how do you make it an exclusion since its not an EXE i dont know how to disable touchflo from interfering if i do a side swipe from the edge of the screen...n00b here :-D couldnt find anything

I do not use TouchFlo as I couldnt stand it on my Mogul so i cant help there.

Are you trying to get rid of the tabs completely or just only show the active or something like that?

Im trying to use the torx iphone icons i converted over to .ico files via infranview but all the icons are saying they are invalid for some reason? anyone have a clue how to fix this? Is it because of the trial?

TO remove the tabs, run the config, go to Headers tab, set height to 0 pixels.. hit Ok.

Please forgive this most newbie of questions. I'm enjoying Ultimate Launcher, but I have little experience with such things and am finding I need icons to really make it look presentable. Is there a good source for free, appropriately sized icons? Do you all just make your own? Are ico files just small bitmaps?

Thanks for any help and advice (which I hope won't be "search is you friend, Newb!" :) ).

There are many places you can find icons. Google as always is your friend. But if you want some really cool ones poke around www.deviantart.com.

an .ico is not a simple image file. It is actually a set of images that are fomatted for multiple sizes and color setups. A single ico could have 12 different icons in it such as 48X48 RGB, 32X32 RGB, 48X48 256, 32X32 256, etc... There are many very good icon editing programs I use Icon Workshop which is amazing. http://www.axialis.com/

There should be a Config icon on your UL default tab. Or you can click and hold on any tab and select settings.

This was driving me crazy as well. The above referenced tasks.lnk simply uses the link in the windows/start menu folder, just like launching Tasks from Programs. And of course it won't display the same as the today plugin. After fiddling with the registry for a while the best I could do was get the Tasks option to show up in Ultimate Launch as selectable but it wouldn't work when displayed.

I finally gave up and am now trying this:

Seems to be working well so far and is fairly configurable so you can have either more, or less, than is shown in the screen shot.

I finally got the task today plugin to show up on my list in UL by changing the registry settings for the plugin but it is failing to load the dll. It would seem using something like the task plus above or maybe this task plugin from xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270288 is the easiest solution.

That was the same issue I was having. I noticed that there are additional registry entries for the task plugin when it's active on the today screen. I believe one of them was designating which categories were to be displayed. Don't know if that has anything to do with the DLL issue. Kudos to you if you can get it working! :)

i haven't used touchflo in a while, but if you open the touchflo folder under Program Files, there is a text file there. at the bottom of it is an exclusion list. use something like notepad and add whatever you want to exclude in the same format. now as far as what you'd need to add in regards to launcher, i have no idea, but i wish you luck... heh

Another freeware solution> http://www.oxios.com/plugins/ Oxios Tasks Plugin. Their memory manager stuff is fantastic so I wouldnt hesitate to give this a shot too. Its a little program too.

I made a couple of these for my ppcgeeks.com link on my UL tab and figured someone else may want to use them.

There are 2 PPCGeeks icons. One is the logo. One is a screen grab.

There are several phone icons including titan, touch, tilt, 700w and wing. I have some more if someone needs an additional phone icon made.

Thats exactly what I did and I am loving it. Weather panel on one tab,HTC home on another and pocket plus on another.Also added a sports score tab today using pocket sport center today plugin.

Help with Ultimate Launcher not working after install
 

Please help - here is what I did with my Mogul (note I have been reading the forums and had this for the 2nd day)

1) installed the HTC home cab to get the upper half to display the clock and weather. Nothing has been configured yet
2) Copied over the cab and installed the Ultimate Launcher. I can see extra icons on the bottom of the screen, but no moving the screen or rolling finger displays.

How do I start this application?

I've been playing with the UL application, and have this issue that from time-to-time, tabs that i created in UL and linked to a Today plugin will cause for "deadspace" on the Today screen.

By "deadspace", I mean that the screen wants you to scroll up and down, although the plug-ins being used don't need all that deadspace.

If you notice this happening to you, the fix that I've managed to make is by going into UL Settings --> Display Tab --> then checking the "Fixed plugin-height" option and setting it to ~220 pixels.

lol thanks the exclusion list is actually built into the config app now. so its much nicer. i just need to find out how to add UL to it. if i find it ill post for them others peoples

Like many of us here at PPCGeeks, I've toyed with many of the programs covered in this site... from iPhone style themes and the like (the most recent being iPhone Freestyle).

I previously had Total Commander, one of the BEST Cube-style programs installed, but I thought it was even slow in responding... with a delay of about two to three seconds before it came into view... despite its small footprint.

Two days ago installed the retail/registered version of UL v 1.2 to my Verizon Wireless VX6800 Mogul - much like many of you... after viewing MATT19's YouTube posting. I've got the PhoneAlarm Touch v2 clock running on the home screen of the device, as a static image... with UL displayed below. I first attempted to include it in the UL fields... and it DID load, much like MATT19's HTC Home clock did... but portions of it would get cut off from the bottom, and it would stat stationary - even though the other panels behind it would/could spin or rotate. So, I opted to keep it stationary - as a stand-alone, and simply make UL load below. As it is... it takes well over two minutes to load UL... despite the amount of frantic and annoyed thumb sweeps across the screen to activate and rotate the "cube" effect. I currently have about 12 icons in 5 hidden panels... none are Today Plug-ins, just shortcuts... so they aren't "running behind the scene". My Storage Memory is at 126MB and my Programs Memory is at: 16.86MB... so it's not as if it's bogged down. I'm finding the overall speed of this untweaked device is even slower than my previous VX6700...!

IS there a way to speed up the device - without over clocking it?

(I'd flash a new and updated ROM kitchen version of 6.1, but - I need to keep MMS and SMS ability - without any issues, as we use it constantly at work... sending the attending ER doc photos of the damage sustained to the interior of a car, for example, so he can better understand what kind of closed fracture and soft tissue injuries our patients have that we're sending him. You have no idea how vital a roll the images play in the care and treatment of the patients... until you can't send anything.)

Do you have ANY suggestions...?

How does Ultimate Launcher compare to Wisbar Desktop? Annd do you need Wisbar Advance installed in order to WAD to work?

They are really differnt types of applications. UL is only a today screen plugin and does not require any other software applications to function.

Wisbar Advance and WAD are a little more complex. They reskin windows and change things like menus etc... WAD can act as a launcher too but that is not really the main function

It is. Which program are you refering to? The icons on the bottoms to turn off the screen, reset, power off and flip screen are Pocket Power Manager

The weather app is Weather Panel with Phat Phinger. The meters are Resco Today plug-in stripped down to just the meters and the carrier line with the calls sms etc is SBP Phone Suite.

Thats odd. i have had no problems what so ever except when i was tweaking it so much i FUBAR'd the ini file.

i would notice that the txt input would slow to a crawl, and i was miss typing words.

i have dcd's latest rom, and nothing else loaded on it.

ill try relading ultimate again, maybe its just a fluke.
