Setting up the BT-5 GPS Receiver

OK, so I've got a bluetooth phone and haven't used bluetooth accessories. I ordered the BT-5 GPS Receiver and now can't figure out how to pair the thing. When I go to "Connections...Bluetooth", it says no devices can be found. The GPS unit is on (the blue light on the GPS unit is on) and I don't see any other controls on the GPS. What am I missing?
