?? 2 question bout activating my NEW MOGUL. (need sprint rep) ??

alright i need some help. my screen on my old mogul broke so i called the insurance company and said i lost it. they sent me a new one today but i havent activated it. i never called sprint or anything to let them know whats up. so my questions are:

1. should i call sprint and just tell them i am switching phones and need to activate the new one (will i be charged for the activation?) or just go ahead and tell them i am activating a new phone from the insurance cause i lost my other one? ((( i just dont want to have to end up paying for the phone later on if i was to get caught))).

2. does the old mogul's esn become marked as stolen or lost at sprint? because i can get the screen fixed and sell it on ebay.

basically i want to know if i can make it seem to sprint that i am just switching fones so that i can sell the old one since i still have it. ( it just has a broken screen).

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

You have an ethical dilemna!!!

You should have just told the insurance company you had a cracked screen, and not told them you lost it..

YES, they do put that ESN in a database, and you will never be able to activate that phone on the networks, UNLESS you figure out how to clone an ESN.. it has been documented.

You did not break a law, per se, as the insurance is meant to replace a broken phone, but your ethical issue is that you are asking about fixing it and then selling it, as you reported it to the insurance as lost...

good luck

Dumb@$$

So, what, you just felt like admitting to whoever reads this that you committed insurance fraud and then want us help you with it? I have some Fed friends that would love to hear about this

You could sell it, but only ethical way is to say the esn is no good. If you fix the screen and flash it to a gps rom, you could sell it as a gps enabled internet tablet (if I'm saying that right)

.... are you serious?.... is it that serious that you would use your time to call your "fed" friends, so that they would use their time to track someone down who wants to sell an extra phone they have? get real, i doubt they would "love to hear about this". are you trying to scare him? or just sound cool? and which department would you chose from your "fed" friends? FBI? DOD? im sure the CIA would be intrested....lol if you dont wanna help him then just dont say anything.

on another note, you know, the companies say that you wont be able to activate a lost or stolen phone, buuuuut, i dont know... has anybody ever actually tried to activate a "lost" phone. cause im pretty sure i know some people who sold their "lost" phone to others. but im not 100% sure.

ALSO! about refurbished phones, i really did lose my mogul last week and i got a refurbished one from the insurance company,... and it doesnt work. im sending that one back and they're sending me another one. i wish i had my original one cause that was brand new; you never know what the previous owner did to their phone.

you cannot activate a lost phone or a phone that was on the account of someone with an outstanding balance.

you were unethical. two wrongs don't make a right. at the same time, stop trying to justify it. you did what you intended to do, get a phone and screw "the man". who am i to judge?

When you try and activate a lost/stolen phone the system shows the phone as flagged as long as the person mentioned that the phone was lost/stolen and they didn't just upgrade or something. I have customers who come in and say that they lost their phone but just want to use their upgrade eligibility. I always have the phone flagged first, then do the upgrade for them. No reason a stolen phone should beable to easily be used later on. And if the phone gets returned later on, then it can be unflagged at that time.

From what I know because I have actually done insurance replacements is you have to send the phone back else they will charge you for it in 30 days and since the insurance company is connected with sprint.

well thank you all for your help. but before you all go grillin me for being unethical, i guess none of you have ever been screwed over by your cell phone companys huh? now think about that. also what was the insurance company gonna do if i told them my screen was cracked. oh sure we'll send you a phone for 50 bucks, just go ahead and send us your messed up one so we can refurbish it and resell it. and i guess you're all super ethical. man grow up and stop living in lala land and welcome to the real world.
