I've been in touch with DCD, I've heard no negative comments, and we look forward to working with DCD more closely in the future.
As to the flaming, please don't feed the trolls. Christopher Price is my real name, a couple of quick Google searches will confirm that.

Chris Price, your story is flawed. I don't think it's been mentioned, but at the time you posted that article, PPcgeeks was down. BUT XDA was not. And there was nearly an exact copy of the thread on here from Kmartburrito, posting the damn ROM. How can you play dumb with either of these communities and not give the individual credits. You know damn well who was responsible for these things in the community. I personally will not go to or support your site. That seems totally disrespectful and unappreciative.

Kudos to Phonenews for listing it step by step.
PPCGeeks was down for like 2 days straight. XDA is really not a place for noobs.... (most of the time the response you get is "do a search" and you end up having to read like 507 posts and you still aren't clear) I'm finally glad someone did the steps in plain English. Quote:

I do not use an HTC device on a daily basis. I do not read XDA-Developers... haven't since I got an iPhone. As to the rest of your comments, please re-read my last post. Now that I have met DCD and contacted him, we've credited him in our latest article. That's not to say we did anything wrong in our initial reporting, we stand behind our decision to thank everyone, as this truly is a team effort of the entire HTC hacking community... PPCGeeks, HowardForums, PhoneNews.com, XDA-Developers, and other web sites which, once again, I don't have time (and it is not reasonable to conceive of all of them) to list at once. This discussion is starting to get cyclical. Whenever we give specific credit, three or four posts come up that say we should have credited someone else for "making XYZ's release possible".
We aren't going to play that game. We thanked everyone. When DCD released Titan 2.1.0 with Windows Mobile 6.1, we gave him/her credit for that release as well. We're confident we handled this matter fairly, and will act in a similar manner in the future, with future releases. |

Chris, when a group of us here first came out with a rom that fixed the bluetooth quality issue, I was asked to make the announcement and we discussed who should get credit before posting. I'm very happy that you've been doing this for a while now, but its still considered obnoxious to not mention ANY of the names involved. Its almost as if, as the OP implied, you are taking credit for the find yourself.
Yes, there is always the obligatory "and everyone else who contributed", but there are certain people who were directly responsible who do this for free, spending countless hours of their spare time and not asking for anything in return. They deserve to be mentioned. I'm glad that you're helping spread the information, but I think the people on this board won't be happy until you mention not only DCD, but KmartBurrito, ImCokeMan and OliPro. Oh, and as far as the missing office, etc... you could use the ACTUAL release (before DCD cleaned it up) that has all the original apps its supposed to come with, or there are plenty of "kitchens" available around here to allow people to build their own roms with whatever components they want. Even better- how about you link to the original posts regarding this so that people can find out more info (DCD has made office .cabs available, so you wouldn't have to deal with the legal issues of hosting it). This is just poor journalism if you ask me (this is coming from someone with Press plates on his car).

Again, we've credited DCD since reporting and contacting him/her. I've already discussed those points and I don't think giving credit is valid because once we credit those four... we'll get four more.
It may have been possible at the time of reporting to have done better crediting if PPCGeeks had been online. PhoneNews.com has offered PPCGeeks additional bandwidth and resources in the past... we haven't received a reply to those offers. This is not a cop-out by any means... I've taken much more time defending this position than it would have to make an edit to the article. We are explaining our reasoning because we stand behind our decision to thank the community in general, largely due to the circumstances of the community at the time. |

we are working on finding us a "reliable managed server" so this will not happen again....but u know how things are on the net. its all good no worries guys...as they say stuff happens. we are now back up and running great...but still gotta move. Chris I do appreciate your offer for the help and if anything is needed I will contact u.
