Can someone please post a working link or upload the file? I tried the link in the Official Titan GPS thread but it hasn't been working. TIA!

Where Is The Reg Edit?

wILLk0r3 818 01-31-2008 12:41 AM

You need the reg. edit and patched .exe, here's the link to the .zip file. ---> http://rapidshare.com/files/87097039...tched.zip.html

xweaponx 02-13-2008 01:52 PM

I found that if you download the .cab and rapdishare files to your PPC, you will have:

1. a regedit of the settings necessary for QuickGPS
2. patched QuickGPS.exe
3. QuickGPS.cab.

Then you will/might have to:
a. Install the .cab first onto your PPC.
b. Then import using a registry editor the registry settings.
c. Now overwrite the current QuickGPS.exe with the patched one in the \windows dir.

This app does not bring up its own Internet connection. Bring up a connection first and then run the update.

Can someone PLEASE give a step by step on how to 'replace' the reg with that one and then where to put the patched .exe file? Everyone says it works but no one explains how to do it!

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

I just downloaded the QuickGPS app and also the files form RapidShare and got everything to work on my Mogul within two minutes. In my office (a steel building) I am seeing 5 satellites and using 3 at the moment. Gmaps found the satellites and locked my position in within 5-6 seconds... wicked fast!

Now, how you too can do this:

1. Download both files to your computer, then extract them.
2. Create a new folder called HTC QuickGPS and put all three of the extracted files (HTC_QuickGPS.cab, QuickGPS.exe, QuickGPS.reg) in the new folder .
3. Sync your Mogul and copy the HTC QuickGPS folder to your storage card.
4. Open a file explorer on your Mogul, other than the stock one in WM6. I personally use Resco File Explorer 2007 because it allows you to overwrite files, has a registry and FTP plugin, etc. Whtever you use, it must allow you to overwrite files.
5. Navigate to your storage card and then to the HTC QuickGPS folder you just copied there from your PC.
6. Install QuickGPS by clicking on the HTC_QuickGPS.cab file.
7. Click on the QuickGPS.reg file and you will be prompted wether or not you want to import these registry settings. Click Yes.
8. Copy the QuickGPS.exe file to the \Windows directory in main memory.
9. Open PIE, Opera or another app on your Mogul that opens an Internet connection (I did not have to do this for it to work, I presume that is because I use Activesync for push from my Exchange server).
10. Open QuickGPS and click the Download button.
11. Tap the X to minimize QuickGPS (you may be able to close it completely, I have not tested that yet).
12. Open your GPS app and be amazed at how fast you get lock, no matter whether you are inside or outdoors.

I hope this helps all of you having problems getting this installed. If you have problems or questions, feel free to post or PM me.

You have to have an active data connection before you attempt to download the data.

Hey Rainfreak, I followed you instructions, got the reg edit done, moved the QuickGPS file to the Windoz directory, and when I run the prog from the Windows DIR, it connects, apparently d/l a file as the status bar moves, but when finished it pulls up a box that says Connection failed. Please try again later. I did reset after the reg edits (I'm an old dos guy, habit I guess) to make sure they took. Any ideas?

LOL, I just went through that. You need a non WM5-6 file explorer. I used the Resko editor mentioned about (google it, comes with a 7 day free trial). You will need to allow it to display hidden files in the options menu and then when you click on the .reg file it will ask you if you want to import the changes. I did have to do this twice and I don't know why but the second time took.

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

What reg. editor are you using? I used the reg. edit file with "PHM reg. editor" with no problems.

nxtech3 03-29-2008 02:19 PM

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

wILL-Im using PHM Reg and where it says import it is all greyed out, so i tried using Total Commander and it gives me that error.

Osteo- i will try Resco thanks for the response hopefully it will work.

Never had this issue trying to do a reg edit, can someone post the actual changes so i can do it manually thanks

You can get the reg changes by just opeing the .reg file on your PC but as I've already got the windows open here they are. I have dyslexia and I would never trust myself typeing in all that data!

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

I'm glad I found this thread. GPS is working better in my Sprint Touch with QuickGps and using AstroGPSlauncher. I sometimes have to soft reset still but considering I'm not working with an official sprint ROM (alltel and JD's test ROM) I'm satisfied for now.

The only real problem is that I cant leave quickgps running in the background. It and PocketCM especially dont seem to get along.

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

What the virdict on that registry file? Do we really need to import those values? Mine look pretty close without touching that .reg file and QuickGPS appears to be working fine on my 6800 w/ latest Alltel ROM from HTC.com (3.x).

On Alltel:

I'm having some trouble with QuickGPS. Previously, the 'download' button would connect, have a progress bar, and then say 'Connection Failed, Please try later'.

I followed these instructions to try and get QuickGPS to work, and now when I try to open QuickGPS I get the error

"The file "QuickGPS" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."

Multiple reinstallations and recopying the registry file don't do anything different. I can plainly see that the old QuickGPS.exe file is still in Windows, even though I told it to overrite. I used Rosco 2008, on trial right now. Any suggestions to get this program working again?

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

Honestly I am not the one to ask anymore because I went from my Mogul to a Touch to the Diamond and then the Pro. Because of this, and the way that QuickGPS works on the newer HTC devices, I have not had a problem with it anymore. And obviously I no longer have a Mogul to check for you...

Sorry and good luck!

What ROM do you have? I had VerInfou.dll missing from DCD 3.3.4 rom and it caused this problem. You have a similar file missing on the diamond.

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

Hey guys,

Hopefully I don't sound too stupid asking this, but here it goes;

Once all of the files are downloaded and the reg edits are made, does an internet connection/data connection have to be made prior to each use of QuickGPS, or is it just the initial installation that requires the data connection be run first?

I usually don't have too hard of a time getting a GPS lock, but every little bit helps, right?

Thanks in advance guys.

Re: I'm looking for HTC QuickGPS

You just need an activesync connection or data connection once a week to update the satellite info. You actually never have to run or open the software after it is installed. I just have mine to update on every activesync.

Wow...that was QUICK! thanks for the response. That would work perfectly for me, since I do use Microsoft Exchange servers and constantly have an ActiveSync connection.
I have read some horror stories about installation from people (software causes errors, GPS doesn't work, etc...), is it pretty failsafe? Once installed, can you unistall the .cab to reset the .reg edits?

Just to be clear, you follow the installation instructions and that's it? After it's installed, you can start Live Search, Google Maps, Telenav, etc...and the locks are pretty instantaneous?

Sorry for all the questions :)
