I'm in DC at the moment. Using WMWiFiRouter I got:
connecting to Frederick, MD and connecting to Atlanta, GA. My "preferred location" was New York, NY but the upload just kept going and never stopped so I gave up on NY. For some reason, I've never gotten those sick download speeds of 1.5-3 mb/s that I see posted all over here but it's still pretty fast for a cell phone. EVDO Rev. A was supposed to also, but I think it's something that is implemented by the carier. Just because it *can* doesn't mean that it *will*. I guess is one way to think about it.
neodorian, you need to use [img] tags instead of html tags. |

You're definitely seeing RevA speeds. Tethered to my computer it feels SO much faster, probably due to the lower latency. ~100ms is fantastic! you can even run VOIP decently with that!

right now I'm in hell... We get pretty good speed down here. Not how I imagined it at all... Then again...

Is there a way to tell if you're phone is in Rev A mode besides doing a speed test? From the same location I seemed to get Rev 0 speeds earlier in the day, and later in the day Rev A speeds.
I wish the network icon would change from EVDO to EVDO/A when you're in a Rev A area. |
