Spend more on a Class 4 microSD card? i.e, Sandisk Ultra II

The Sandisk Ultra II cards are starting to be released in the microSD format. A 1GB Ultra II now goes for $10.55 on amazon while the standard speed $7.55. 2GB costs are $34 vs. $14.

My question is, would the Titan/Mogul/6800 benefit from the faster speeds of the Ultra II or would I just be throwing my money away?

In a non-scientific test, The 2M picture took 4 seconds (via my 1-mississippi, 2-mississippi stopwatch) to right to the internal memory. IT also took the same time to right to my Kingston 2GB microSD card. I'm assuming that a write to internal ram would HAVE to be the fastest write speed possible.

I dont know what My SanDisk 2gb is class wise I assume its Class 2 but I'm not sure is WAY slower than my SDHC Class 6 Patriot card. Its not even close. The 4 GB card is like twice as fast. I used Pocket Mechanic to benchmark the cards but I dont remember the exact #'s.

Did you happen to run Pocket Mechanic against the local RAM? If so how did that compare.

I cannot benchmark my ram. It requires 21.5mb free which is a problem as I can only get 21 free before I start Pocket Mechanic. Once it starts it drops below 19.

Does anyone know if there is a further speed increase with a class 6 card?

Are 8GB class 6 microSd cards available? Where?

The higher the class number, the higher the certified sustained throughput.

Yes I know it will be higher when put in a speedy card reader and used on a speedy computer. I want to know if the Mogul is capable of taking advantage of the fct that the card is faster.

Re: Spend more on a Class 4 microSD card? i.e, Sandisk Ultra II

I also doubt it will be noticeable faster writing/reading the card on a Mogul.

Like earlier posts mentioned before, most of the time the real difference is seen when you have fast card readers connected to your computer.

It's really a marketing tool used by manufacturers to lure you into buying their card. Don't get me wrong, the speed is real, but many devices simply can't take advantage of it.
