sponge on speaker.

I have a stupid question i guess. If you look closely at the speaker on the from of the phone, it appears there is a sponge there or something. Can this sponge be removed? if removed will it increase the volume?

my volume seems to be fine thus im reluctant to remove it but i was just wondering this.

I don't think you'll want to remove that.. I believe that's a dirt filter.

Actually I think that allows you to connect your phone to an external antenna (i.e. in your car)

no. he is not talking about the rubber plug on the back next to the camera he is talking about the earpiece sponge right above the sprint logo or whatever carrier you have. best to leave it on
