None of them work that well, i guess i should say...they work well when they connect, which is usually about 50% of the time you want to use them
EDIT: my Samsung A900 worked great, I will sell it to you cheap!

It (insert whatever PPC IM app here) won't work like the sidekick because the sidekick IM is integrated into the phone with all data going through Danger's servers before it ever goes out to the internet. So Danger maintains your AIM connection even when having a call.
Well your carrier isn't going to do this obviously if they didn't pay to have the IM client built into the phone. The only exception is text messaging based solutions because it doesn't require a constant data connection to stay connected. But the Mogul doesn't have OZ IM either. just use the old aim for ppc uk version and setup aim to forward messages to your phone via text thats the best solution ive come up with. you will never miss messages and if you have to sign back in. Or just reply to messages via sms

I just installed palringo to keep in touch with my gmail contacts. So far pretty cool but the only annoying thing is that when I am actually chatting in gmail, I sometimes get doubles of the messages in palringo. Also the choices for notification are either a really annoying beep or nothing. It would be nice if they only notified you if it is not maximized otherwise I could leave notification on. As it is I have to turn it off to keep it from beeping constantly during a conversation.
I might try Slick instead. |

hey specv, with the forwarding can you sign on and off with that or is it an all day type of thing, like if I want to be signed on but not with the IM client just have it through sms, and I do it that way, and then sign off when Im finished.
