ok, how about just creating a shorcut to new txt on the today screen..

12/04/09 DROID. WM, HTC, and BB can go to hell now.

OK, did anyone find a registry change for this yet?
Or what is the command line to map the Today screen left softkey to "New Text Message." Right now I have the Today screen left softkey mapped to open Text Messaging.... but I still have to do two more steps to write a new text message... 1) Right softkey... then 2) New. Call me lazy but I text message a lot and it's kind of annoying. I hate that left softkey "Delete" when text messaging is running. I never use it and I never delete text messages.
