xv6800 review (from a game playing perspective)

I have "upgraded" over the years from the xv6600 to the 6700 and now to the 6800. Although I would not consider myself a gamer by any means, I do like to occupy myself while I'm waiting in line at the bank or grocery store. My stock games include: 1) Galaga, 2) Grandmaster Chess, 3) Zevtris, 4) Bejeweled2, and 5) Freecell.

The joystick on the 6700 was great for playing Galaga and Zevtris. However, the new D-pad on the 6800 is terrible for these games. Additionally, Galaga's hardcoded fire button placement is very awkward. Lastly, the game play on Galaga is jerky, and not smooth like it was on the 6700.

Overall, the 6800 is better than the 6700 in every way except for gaming. I wonder if anyone has discovered any hacks to improve Galaga on the 6800?

ps. Since Galaga is no fun any more on the 6800, I find myself playing a lot more chess lately.
