Hrm.. What the heck is using the data connection?

Hrm, I seem to always have the active data connection icon on my Sprint Mogul. Even though I'm not using the data (as far as i can tell). I've gone through HTC home, and set up the options for weather to update only when I click on it.

Other than that these are the programs I have:

4.0 Student
Adobe reader LE
Agenda One
AudibleAir (not open)(Never used)
Audiopl (Not open)(Never used)
Get good (whatever that is)(Never used)
HTC Home cust.
Internet sharing (Never used)
Java
Memaid
Music (Not open)
PHM reg edit
Picsel browser
Pictures and videos
Reclaim ram.
Resco radio (not open or running)
SiriusWM5 (Not open or running)
TCPMP
Video sites (Not open or running)
Windows Live (Never used)
Windows media (Not open or running)
Wktask
Zip

I currently keep just disabling the data connection through the comm manager. When Im not using it, but after an hour or two it turns back on to do something. Not sure what, then remains on. Is there a program that shows me what is using the data connection? I'm assuming this could only be killing my battery life.

Also when I disable the data connection, shouldnt it turn back on when I recieve a text message, then close until another message comes through or until I send a message? If it's disabled, it seems that no texts get through (although I seem to be able to send them), then if I enable it, it will just stay connected.

Any ideas, I tried searching for this. But I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for.

Check to make sure that your email accounts are set to manually download. Also, you should receive SMS w/o data coming on (I think), but data will become active if you are receiving a MMS.

If you have an XV6800 the data connection doesn't usually shut down after you receive a MMS message.

I don't get MMS messages. Just standard SMS (as far as I know). So maybe it's my email account?

I am looking through the settings, how do you disable it to be only a manual account? I can only find the settings to change the password and email name, etc.

I seem get fair good battery life if I just turn it off when I notice it on. But if I dont pay attention, I'm lucky to get a full day out of it so far.

Email would only be accessing data if you have actually set up an email account manually on your phone.
If you have, try this:
Start>Messaging>Menu>Options

Click on any email account that you have configured then cycle through the options to get till you get to automatic send/receive and make sure it is set to manual.

Send a message via AIM to Baffles
Ever since I installed 2.17, my phone connects right on boot and stays connected. I don't care, I leave my data connection up all the time anyway. It doesn't seem to affect my battery, I used to be able to go 1-2 days on a charge w/ moderate use, and today I've been running almost 12 hours since my last charge and am only down to 80% battery.
