voice mail notifications/Today Icon issues

A strange problem just occurred. I'm running WM6. The Today screen (the standard one with WM6) voice mail ''Item" shows that I have 1 unread voicemail. Also, the soft lower left button says Notification and when activated it says I have 1 new voice message. Finally the little new voice mail message icon at the very top bar to the right of "Start" is visible also.

Here's the rub - I do not have any unread voice mail messages or any messages saved in my Sprint voicemail box and none "scheduled" for deletion.

I've checked and double checked the mailbox and it's truly empty. I've rebooted my Mogul several times.

Weird! Any ideas? Or perhaps someone could steer me to a good WM6 forum if you think it's a software problem.

My Mogul is running the new 2.17 ROM without any problems at all.

Thanks.

Jack

I had the same thing happen to me...
Did you try and clear the voicemail icon from the settings tab?
Also you may have a voicemail in the system that hasn't been delivered yet, which is what happened to me.

well - I just found an answer to my own question - I googled the problem and got a link to this response - and it works! Boy do I love google for tech issues - I should have started there anyway. Oh well, in case someone has the same issue here's what I did to fix it -

Turn your phone off...then call your cell and leave a message. Turn the phone on and then go to your voicemail and listen to the message. Listen and then delete it; then press the appropriate key to disconnect from voicemail, don't just hang up...(for Cingular and AT&T it the star key "*" to disconnect). That should clear the "voicemail" icon...if not, turn the phone off and then back on. I had the same problem and fixed it by doing the above. Hope this helps you.</SPAN>
