bad ESN questions...

I guess this is more of a Sprint specific question but has to do with my Mogul as well, also with so many so wise here I thought this was the best place to get the *right* answer...

What capabilities does a flagged or "bad" ESN Mogul still have? Lets say I loose my mogul, file a TEP claim, get and activate the new phone and then happen to find my lost one...does the wifi still work? is the lost phone detectable in anyway when being used?

.

WI-Fi will still work so internet thru wifi will too! You just lose all data services thru sprint. You coudl always clone the ESN but Google is your friend for that

not exactly. in theory, if your vision user name has not changed, your EVDO or 1x should most likely still work for some reason. It makes now sense, but i'm speaking from personal experience. When i lost my 6700, i had an insurance replacement sent to me. When i found the thing months and months later, the data still worked. I turned the phone in to them, bu it still worked.

Ok, here's one for ya... how many times will TEP replace a phone? I mean is it once a year or is there a limit in a given amount of time?

If you file a claim, find the phone & continue using it, it is insurance fraud. <insert standard disclaimers & references to federal pound me in the ass prison here>.

When you power the lost or stolen device on, it registers on the network and they can "see" you unless you turn the radio off or change the esn, etc, but that is a federal crime in the US punishable by incarceration in the aforementioned pound me in the ass prision.

I'm pretty sure it's 2 a year. Whether a year for them is Jan-Dec, or a cycle beginning when you signed up, I am unsure of...

So you can only file a claim once every 2 years if you lose your phone?
