Lipo batteries for the htc 6800 just a thought...

The HTC 6800 has a LiPo battery. From what i have learned with R/C airplanes and helicopters, you do not want to discharge your battery below 3.0v which is approximately 80% of your total battery capacity to keep the battery operating at its full potential. Lower than 20 % remaining is probably not a good idea IMO.

Over discharging your battery may damage your battery and cause it to perform with substandard results.

This is just my thoughts on the issue. If anyone can help or educate me on this topic please help out.

You are correct on that part but I would imagine that HTC knows this and will shut the phone off before it has gone too far. (I could be wrong, but I doubt it)

That is what the heli and r/c sites say yes. However that's because those motors are pulling a heck of a lot of current at once and have no shutoff circuitry. The phones do and pull no where near as dangerous a level. Just relax and enjoy your phone. Being uptight about things only makes life less worth living.

What chicken scratch I can tell you.

Yes, over discharging isn't healthy for the battery, IMHO I would call 30% the limit
before I turn off or disable features until I get to a charger.

However for new batteries I would, discharge to 20% "once" to heat up the battery & expand its endurance, I do recommend that.

Many devices now, record what you just stated, only in life terms instead of current usage . For instance you can predict how long your battery is going to last.

9/10 a monitor will give you the active precentage with the current voltage of the battery, usually is supposed to start at 3.8-3.9 new.

If you ever reach 3.0v(in life term, not current), by this time, you can tell first hand that its not holding a charge as well as it should or its charging way too fast withing a short period. ITs time to replace it.

Of course you have some instances where the battery cannot be change by the user (i.e I have a Palm TX thats getting close to 3.0v)
Yeah it sucks to see its getting close & the only thing you can do is ship it to the OEM while you get charged a premium.

Alot of it of it depends on the user; you can figure the guy that has the back light running wide open all day, the thing set to ring and vibrate, checking mail every mail 5 mins, linked to exchange with push email, updating a weather program every 30 mins along with caching radar images each time, surfing the web, talking on the phone ( I use mine for business and talk alot!), using bluetooth, wifi, etc..... It all depends on the users habits. I get an easy day out of mine with the regular battery and I am doing all of the above except the backlight is @ 50% and I don't use Bluetooth much...well actually never,LOL. You can ask 10 people here and you will 10 different answers/complaints. I wouldn't sweat it like shadowmite said, enjoy the phone.

Hey, why are you talking about me like that!!!
Just kidding. I do run my ppc's hard, but they deserve it! Seriously, these phones do pretty good, despite all the software and operating system quirks. I just took the time to update to the latest HTC rom and it has improved battery life significantly. I was previously burning through a full charge in about three hours, now I run full tilt streaming tv, checking email every 1/2 hour (with a 70% backlight most the time), and it has only hit 70% in three hours with standard OEM battery.

I think with all the features HTC put into this phone, the batteries will be just fine.

Just two cents from a guy who uses his phones like mad, starting with the Hitachi G-1000 several years ago...

Well said, as it is a major variable here.

Getting your battery down to low levels like that isn't too bad when its generally taking you hours to even reach it. However if you are overworking the battery to the point of where it becomes hot & active percentages fall fast, then yes, you really want to cut back on what is running. It could make the difference from it being a 8-month battery lifespan to a 1-3/4 year stable life span.

I pretty much use the phone the way I need to use it, without a care in the world for how my usage affects the life of the battery, and if the battery goes bad, I replace it.

if you are really concerned, Batti allows you to display the current battery voltage (to the thousandth of volt)
