PRL is a Preferred Roaming List.
Simply this tells the phone which are the preferred cell sites to use on the network for best quality service performance. Signal Strength meters are considered "Dummy" meters meaning they are far from accurate and should not be used as a way to gauge real life coverage. Quote:

Time to go back to 60610. In this area Alltel provides the EVDO even when you are on Sprint voice. When I went to roam on Alltel, it went to 1X. Normally when I go to roam on Alltel it stays as EVDO. I double checked the SID to make sure I wasn't on Verizon too.

Where to place the downloade PRL file
After several attempts to get Sprint Service to understand that I wanted them to provide my phone with an updated PRL I downloaded 60611.
What folder do I place it in? My first attempt to install failed (using ##PRL#). Tool did not seem to detect it on the storage card. |

Did another hard reset and went back to 60610 and the problem went away. As of right now, I'm actually using PRL 20229. It seems to work best for me since I'm roaming a lot during the day.

Although not 100% confirmed, I read on another post that they have removed the data roaming triangle from the latest PRL. It certainly would explain why nobody using the new PRL has reported seeing their Roaming Icon.
