I did try out the .16 version of Pocket CM and it does load faster.

Is there a way to get the touch contact program on the Mogul? I like the scroll feature on there (letters on the side of the screen and you drag your finder down the letters to get where you want). I would be happy with that feature alone in the current contact program.

Yes: that is what the Random access add on is, its avail over at XDA

SPB Pocket Plus will do that and for PIE, but it will set you back $30

If you installed fff and set it as default contacts, and then removed fff, the contacts key will still search even though fff was properly removed. Reinstall fff, uncheck the "Set as Default Contacts" and then re-remove fff and this will fix the problem.

Install FTouchFlo... this will allow you not only to flick scroll in the default Contacts App, but in every other app too (IE, file explorer, etc.).

Thanks...but I already remapped the contacts key to Pocket CM.....

What is the Contacts key supposed to mapped to originally?

I might have to try iContacts. But does it do threaded sms?
if not i'll have to go back to the palm threaded sms

also, could someone explain what this random access add thing is?

It adds letters on the right side that you can run your finger down and select a letter.
