Also, i read that a quick way to check if "my location" will work is to look in googlemaps Menu > Help > About and scroll all the way to the bottom and look for the string "myl:N/A" if it's there then the "my location" function is not working for the device

No love here either. Tried the hack to unlock aGPS on certain phones through developer.sprint.com, but didn't help.

it won't work on the mogul. i did oodles of looking for it, so i'll just save you the time of messing with it too, lol. at least, as of this morning (nov 30), it is dead. give it some time though. i'm not sure if it's absolutely needed, but if you did the ROM update, and read the page there, they say that they're currently working on a new ROM, due out in early 2008, that will re-enable the gps in the mogul. so, it CAN be done, it's just that the cooks here haven't figured it out yet (not blaming them, i know i couldn't find it, or would want to spend my time, which isn't free, doing it). anyhoo, when that comes out, you should be able to use it. ya gottah simmah dahn nah

furthermore, sprint does not support triangulation. The e911 system that sprint and verizon uses is aGPS. Only tmobile, and some other gsm providers use triangulation to determine your e911 location.

aGPS uses your location merely to tell the device what satellites (out of dozens, a lot are not relevant) to look at for data, reducing signal acquisition. It also can help compute the GPS data for faster location identification. |
