The problem is usually the application software trying to catch up and adapt to the OS.

So if this OS has a large number of changes as to application performance/functionality, even if the Mogul got it, it would set applications back a notch rather than forward (wm6 compared to wm5 anyone?).

There is no different between WM5 and WM6 (besides looking prettier and minor changes) WM5 software works on WM6 software. I haven't had any issues installing software. I even install WM2003 software on WM6 without issues.
