To override the Sprint connection settings from being overwritten, you will want to look in your \windows\startup folder for a file names something like HTC_Guardian. Delete that file and reboot your phone. The guardian app forces sprint's settings in your connection settings which is good for most. However, its a pain for people that want to use custom DNS servers or use it on another carrier.

To stop the customizations, you need to wait on the first boot (after screen calibration) where it states "customizations in 3 seconds". At that moment, press the reset button at the bottom with your stylus. This stops the customizations from running and they will not run again (unless you flash again or hard reset).

Well, I guess now I just have to worry about active sync destroying my Documents folder on my laptop and getting rid of all the CABs that I have stored. Why does it always do that.

Do I really need to have a charge on my phone before updating? Won't it just draw power from the USB the whole time?
Edit: Nevermind, I charged to 20% and attempted to run it and realized that the damn installer won't even run if it detects the battery is below 50%. I'm just impatient, I'd like to have a properly functioning phone after all these months. Last edited by Statikk; 11-29-2007 at 02:20 PM. |

When I installed the last ROM and did this, I was missing a few "key customizations" and had to install them manually...
What's the word on this ROM update? Is it safe to soft-reset once the customizations start? Or, should remove the junkware with the other method? This is the only thing keeping me from upgrading right away. |
