IF you install touchflo and screen keyboards, you defeat the purpose of having the Qwerty keyboard and the scrollwheel in my opinion.. Have you ever seen someone try to install a hardware keyboard and solder a Wifi card to the touch??? LOL

just for the fact of less freeze ups and working BT...
Touch>Mogul anyday all day.

Now this is coming from a ex Mogul user and a businessman who uses texting/emailing/instant messaging more then actually calling people.

I laughed when someone said the touch doesn't have a infared port and a flash on a camera... its 2007, those things are irrelevant with bluetooth and 7+ megapixel digi cams.

Its official, I'm selling the Mogul... I see no purpose in it anymore.

LMAO
Well, Touch users CAN'T add a hardware keyboard or wi-fi, that's why you haven't seen it being done.

The logic for Mogul users adding these things, is simply because we can. Just like PPC users adding the whole i-phone theme, we do it because we can.

I personally have the Touch Keypad installed on my Mogul, b/c I find that's the best way to use the keyboard (also easier to use one handed) without actually sliding the keyboard out. But, if I need to type a long message or email, the hardware keyboard may be a better option on the Mogul, but it's not an option at all on the Touch.

The whole TouchFlo and cube, is just for looks, yet each button has a purpose and is linked to an app that I'd actually use. I have the cube installed

Now, the more important things, like Wi-Fi. I personally find EV-DO coverage to be "Okay", but it's not better than Wi-Fi (don't try and convince people they'll never need it). In fact, when you take your Touch in places where there's absolutely NO COVERAGE, you can't use the internet at all. The Mogul, you're able to turn the phone radio OFF and still use the internet over Wi-Fi (like in a hospital), streaming via wifi is much better than your carriers data network. There's even the ability to use internet sharing via wi-fi, but since the Touch's hardware doesn't have this, that will never be an option. There's tons of reasons why wi-fi is put on mobile devices, it's like saying, "Well, I'll get a new laptop but don't care if it has Wi-Fi" Well, even if you have a laptop with no Wi-Fi, you can use my Mogul to connect wirelessly.

And regarding the camera flash. I'd assume that you'd want anything that comes with the phone to work as good as it can, whether you have a 7 mega pixel camera or not is not relevant. The camera that comes on the phone is what we're talking about. If it doesn't have a flash, it doesn't have a flash.

And for IR ports, you've never needed to send something to a printer via an IR port? Or maybe even use you're phone as a remote control just because you can.

Now, I'm LMAO!!

I have both Mogul and Touch and this is my OPINION on both of these devices:

Well unless you have 1 of those flawless Mogul's that I keep hearing about, ( I don't ) I'd say the Touch is closer to its ideal performance level, the way it was designed and meant to function.

If the Mogul would function the way its advertise and meant to (i.e. BT, Alarm, no 5-10 resets a day) then I'd have to say the Mogul would be a superior phone IMHO. It has everything that the touch has + more (except SprintV which will be added as soon as those bastards can find a way to bill us ), more hardware options, wifi ect... hell you can even make it look and act like a Touch.
(w/ exception of 1/2 the RAM which is a big Neg)

Touch>Current PoS Mogul
Fixed Mogul>Touch
So the Touch makes a better Touch phone then Mogul makes Mogul phone (lol does that make sense?). With that said my Mogul is put away and im loving my Touch.

I'll have to try SPB. Have you tried Touchpal? How do they compare if you have.

I came from a katana (1yr), muziq (29 days) to a mogul (3 months) to a touch 6 days.
I was never into cell phone, i just wanted one for emergencies but When I got the mogul being my first ppc I was very impressed and turned into a phone junkie.
I love the k/b all the things a ppc is. I hated the b/t the size and RAM (all improved with the touch). Once I held the touch in my and the on screen k/b I was a little nervous with the switch but after a few hours with the touch I packed my mogul in the box and never looked back. The mogul feels like an old ph especially the size now compared to the touch.
The touch keypad for myself I can actually type faster with on haned on it. I like the k/b w/ the mogul but i had to use two hands. Sliding device was cool to show off but the rescessed screen it always a pet peeve to me. Dirt always got in the corners or sides even worse with a screen protector. Touch is much brighter screen and flat gotta love it! like nikes says Just do it!

I was going to switch to the Touch because it is lighter, less moving parts so less likely to break, easier to hold with the rubbery finish and smaller form, no "Bright!!!" blinking lights that you have to cover at night in order to get to sleep. BUT, the screen viewing angle is keeping me away and the poor picture quality. It seems like the camera was downgraded from the one that is on the Mogul. When you view the Touch in landscape mode it is hard on your eyes; I can feel the strain on my eyes. You have to view the Touch at an angle, tilt it back, to see a better image of what you are taking a picture of.

I think it really comes down to this:

Mogul = Hardcore/Technical pocket pc users

Hardcore:
It includes a slideout keyboard to minimize errors and increase productivity when typing alot. IR and Wifi backup communication technologies so you are never stranded with no internet. An LED on the camera if you use almost as much as a real camera in dark places.

Technical:
The BT/IR/Memory problems can only be remedied by technical users.

BT= Poor performance
IR = Weak IR signal/No TV Remote software
Memory = User must act as a task manager compared to a Touch user which can run many applications at once.

Touch = Casual/Average pocket pc users
With the lack of some features that the Mogul has, most Touch users won't miss em. If you are not a person that needs a flash for the camera because you frequently take pictures in the dark or need a flashlight, just need your bluetooth to work and really don't feel like fixing it when it doesnt, don't feel trying a bunch of software to get your PPC to work as a TV Remote (IR), and if you dont want to worry about closing programs out while you use your phone AND finally you want to look a little cool when approaching the ladies, get the Touch.

obviously you can't sense sarcasm.... of course you can't add a hardware keyboard or wifi idiot. and for your info, there's Wifi cards that go in the SD slot.

as far as all that other non-sense about EVDO and the flash... I digress that. The flash sucks and Wifi is aight since the processing speed of the device can't load pages as fast as they come.

As far as the IR port....................................... bluetooth buddy. Its 2007... bluetooth. BUT the mogul's bluetooth sucks so I see why you need your IR port.

Welllll I just got my Touch the other day. Here is my two cents.

I love the size of the Touch (SOOOO small) but I actually miss the heft of the Mogul.

The screen viewing angle issues were WAY annoying at first, but you'll get used to them very quickly. I believe it has mostly to do with to with the flush cover set over the screen. If you have seen the new little 12 inch HP touchscreen laptops, you'll see this too. I think the iphones use glass? or some sort of advanced plastic which is why they dont have that issue.

I do miss wifi. I actually hardly used it, but I just liked knowing it was there, and I used to use it when at school in a panel or speakers forum and wanted to watch tv. lol

I DEFINITELY miss the keyboard. But actually, dont be scared to try xt9, if you have never used it, ASK someone who has to tell you a little bit about how it works, i actually had no idea! But essentially, you have no double tapping! and you'll just get used to tapping the completed word instead of the space bar! its pretty great. Oh and then I use Spb FullScreen Keyboard when I know I am writing a long email or something, its awesome!

TouchFlo is pretty shitty considering. I mean PocketPlus smart scrolling is way better developed and as soon as Spb gets the kinks out of pplus with the touch, I will be turning off touchflo and using smart scrolling. HTC really needs to advance the TouchFlo, no kinetic scrolling???? WTF?

I also miss all the buttons. I think HTC could have added a few more chrome buttons (like the Sprint one) without losing the minimalistic style of the phone. But I will be trying out AE Button plus soon.

BOTH are fantastic phones. I have no idea which I will make my main phone. I am leaning towards the touch right now. ALTHOUGH, I should say all of the quams and little complaints I have with the touch (except for TouchFlo) will never be changed because they arent software related. All of the problems everyone has with the Mogul (except for 64mb which isnt all that bad) are likely to be fixed, so keep that in mind.

Happy phoning.
