Of course Landscaper does not stop the screen from changing orientation. It just resets it to your desired orientation.

If it would just stay in landscape I would keep it there. I like the 320x240 view. Then I could slide the keyboard in and out at leisure without waiting for the orientation. I also have an issue where sometime changing orientation doesn't redraw the entire contents of the screen or lags my PPC. I asked about this on the 6700 more than a year ago, still nothing has fixed the problem.

I can give u a reason i do NOT want my phone to change orientation. Everytime i remove my phone from the holster to answer it, the keyboard moves just enough to shift to landscape, then i have to wait about 3-4 seconds while my phone is ringing for it to switch back so i can answer it with the touchscreen. I would answer it with the green hardware button, but it is NOT RELIABLE. If i go to answer it when it is in the landscape mode, it always switches back while i am pressing answer and i have to wait for the orientation to go back to portrait before i can answer the darn phone, VERY AGGRAVATING. I end up having to return most calls because they hang up before i can answer. I DO NOT have a lot of software on my PPC6800.

I've been watching for over a year now hoping someone would figure out the reg edit needed just to change the default orientation. Still no luck it seems. I've seen thos type of thread many times but it must be a real tough one.
I've fumbled around in my registry and was even brave enough to try some changes but no luck. Tried landscaper, even got a wee bit exited for a second there but...... |

Re: Stop today screen oriantation from changing?
I've been trying to locate a solution to this problem for my xv6800 as well. Fortunately, Landscaper will suffice for me for the time being until someone can find a registry edit. I've scoured the registry myself looking for the key that controls that screen-switch reaction to the keyboard slide to no avail.
Funny I have SPB Diary running and I find it's the thing that really slows my screen-redraw. I put it inside a tab on my Today screen so it's hidden until I open the tab and it seems to help somewhat. But I still have a very slow redraw. |
