When I create the shortcut to wmodem.exe in the start menu, it just reads \windows\wmodem.exe and I can't edit the properties on the mobile device. The wmodem program will not run from a shortcut or by attempting to run it directly from the \windows directory. I assume that's because I'm missing the /LAUNCH argument.

If I take the shortcut to a PC and edit the properties and copy it back, it says "not a valid shortcut" just like the one in the zipfile does.

gracias,

When adding the files to your phone, all your going to need is to get Wireless Modem.lnk and add it to the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder on your device

Then get the WModem.exe and add that to \Windows

Finally get WModem.exe.0409.mui and add that to \Windows as well.

nothing to do with /LAUNCH

Thanks so much! Renaming the file to .lnk and copying it over solved the problem. The wmodem application now launches.

In my "Internet Sharing" file on my PPC, it has "PC Connection 'USB' and 'Phone as Modem' under Network Connection" options, but I am never able to connect. There is no "Phone as Modem" radio button in my connections. The Sprint connection uses #777 as the dial out code.

After working at this for days (because of my own faults and lack of knowledge (even when following the tutorial)), I finally have gotten my tethering together =D>. I am now connected :headbang:! I have disabled my network device from my notebook, and connected via my phone's modem so that I can give it a try. I am composing this message via my tethered connection. WOO WHO! Thanks for all of your this great tutorial TalynOne and your help, and a Special thanks to you SpecialAgentSacari, for all of your efforts to assist me in making this happen. Coodles, and lots of thanks!

Here are some speed tests:

and

http://www.mobilespeedtest.com/bandw...=30&recorded=1

Yeah for RevA

These were ran seconds apart on two different sites. You need to click the hyper link to see the other, but it was from <mobilespeedtest.com> and read 8192 kbps (8 mbps) for my bandwidth which means that I can download @ 1024 kbps (1 mbps). I AM LOVING THIS.........

Not sure if this is only happening to me, but after deleting the "Extension" from the registry I've noticed it drains my battery life. After puttin back the "Extension" into the regedit, battery life is now again the way it was.

EDIT:
i should add that i also changed the mobile ip only to mobile ip preferred along with deleting the "extension" from the registry when i noticed battery drainage with light use. then i changed both back to original settings and noticed battery life was again normal. the other day i only changed the mobile ip only to preferred and after a full charge notice battery drain again. not sure if this is just an isolated case. hope this may help others that are experiencing poor battery life.

I too am having battery drain after getting this up and running, which is made more odd by the fact that I am USB tethered and my mogul shows that it is plugged in and charging. Does WModem or using the radio constantly to surf take more power than USB is able to deliver to the battery for charging? Or is it the "extension" registry entry being deleted? Or both?

Other than that, everything works great (posting this via my mogul).

Hmm...strange, after I finished surfing and disconnected my mogul from my laptop the battery went from 30% up to 80%. It's been a number of hours now and is only down to 60% with some light use, so maybe something was causing the battery meter to display wrong?
