Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in my responses, I'll be updating all my tutorials (Opera Mini, Internet Sharing, Wireless Modem, GPS) sometime next week....
Quote:
Personally when sharing via a wireless connection I prefer to use, when I can, an AdHoc Wifi connection. This can be done with ICSControl (free) or WMWiFiRouter (now commercial). I'd rather use WiFi, when I can, since (especially with Rev A), the speed of the Bluetooth transfer speed standard can be the limiting factor in Internet transfer speeds. I don't know what problems others are running into, but I just tested Bluetooth DUN (Dial-Up Network / virtual modem) with this tutorial solution on my Mogul running NeuRom 5060 (WM 6.1 ROM), using a Dell Axim X50v running WM6 as the Bluetooth dial-up client, with no problems. I'll be loading DCD sometime next week to see if that gives me different results. Bluetooth DUN (not PAN) is the only option for some type of connections, such as when connecting to a TomTom GPS head unit to the Internet via your phone. Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
for anyone who hasn't tried, if you create a new connection and give it the name phone as modem, it says name already exists; even though there isn't one. Spint PCS #777 radio is the same as PHONE AS Modem radion button |

Fricken awesome! Only took this noob 4 hours. I get this error displayed on my mogul screen, but the modems still works. Any ideas? I searched Google but a lot of Verizon tethering info comes up.
Error code: 1010 Error Code: 1010 data service is not available when the device is in tethered and bluetooth dial up networking mode. |

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
Great instructions, had it working in no time...Thanks.
Now for my question. How do you get this to work with the Xbox 360? This is the reason for me to use this program. I have a crossover cable and connected my laptop to the xbox 360 with it but the Xbox kept saying no connection. Is there something else I need to setup either on the xbox or laptop? Please help, this will be my only way to get online with the xbox. Thanks. |

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
Hey all new here but successfuly have dcd 3.0.4 running perfectly with usb tethering, gps, mms and all. The only problem i'm having is this BT teathering. I am on verizon and when i tether with usb there is no problem, however if i use BT DUN it connects at the usual 115, but my browser is redirected to a verizon page asking me to pay 30$ for tethering. I'm using WMODEM to connect and i have done the fore mentioned registry edits as well as installed the BT WM6 cab. There has to be something in my registry that is giving me away to the man. Any clue?
Thanks, Bones |
