You need an updated SD driver to use the bigger cards. The 2.16 had it, but as you know that ROM was retracted. There is a thread over at pdaphonehome.com that has a driver though.
The link below points to the thread I was talking about. Some said the 2.16 drivers worked, so I put together a cab myself. Haven't tested it, but you are welcome to as I have a 2gb non-sdhc card. If you want to try this, I would highly suggest you do a backup first (ie Sprite or SPB Backup) to be on the safe side. http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...d-working.html Last edited by stroths; 11-02-2007 at 10:02 AM. |

so the sprint version will take an 8gb card? the verizon version will only take 2gb. Went to verizon today, we went through two phones and two 6gb sd cards; no configuration worked - 1.7gb for everyone. Tomorrow i call UT starcom per vzw tech support. What's happening with the other xv6800 owners? are your cards reading or not? What's going on?

I have a Sandisk 4GB'er in mine. I read on some post's that a .cab was necessary for 6+ SD cards. I was waiting for the 8GB to come out. time to buy the card and download the cab!
A guy on PPCGeeks just bought a XV6800 and a 8GB through Verizon and it only recognizes 4GB of it... |

I am that guy. I have yet to hear from anyone that has gotten all 8gb to show up... I apparently ruined my card when I let the phone fall asleep during a card format with Pocket Mechanic. I had run the cab but was still showing 4gb so I thought a format might do the trick, guess I'll never know.
I of course already trashed my sandisk packaging but maybe the vzw store will exchange mine with the receipt for a new one if I tell them it was DOA? |
