If your USB tethered then the USB would be maintaining your battery if not trickle charging it during periods of low use.
Remember the cardinal rule of Li-ion batteries:
Each time you plug them in you are taking away 1 cycle of its charging life. These batteries dont get a "Memory Effect" any more but they do have the lowest amount of charging cycles of any battery technology. Which is why in a perfect world we run them totally dead prior to connecting them to any source of power. Off the top of my head i want to say these batteries will be between 500-700 cycles but it could be even lower than that (do the math, plugin 2x per day thats 700+ cycles in a year).
On the flipside old NiCad batteries had the worst memory effect but had 1000's of charging cycles!
