well i finally took the plunge and started using the dcd1.1_r5 rom, so far i like a lot except one little question....I found an internetsharing.cab that i'm using that i assumed would work, well i don't receive any error messages on the the mogul, in fact it says connected but my laptop is stuck saying "acquiring network address"
Anyone have any ideas?

dcd, can you make a clean rom for the new sprint rom & radio 1.40, people report it is stable with that combination. It would be great if you can do it. Your clean version still have alarm issue. No alarm issue or blue tooth issue with this new rom combination. Thx.

i have tested the new sprint kernel, the new sprint drivers, and the new sprint radio. i disagree about stability with 1.40. the new sprint drivers are in my opinion not as good as the alltel drivers. no2chem based his AKU0.7 XIP on the new sprint kernel, so you'll see it in use soon, but I am staying away from the sprint 2.16 drivers. the SYS portion of my rom is now taken from Build 18533.0.7.0 from a Wizard, OEMDrivers is from Alltel 6800, and OEMApps is from telus 6800.

Quick and Dirty on VOIP version (w/ ## codes)

dcd-

Thanks for being patient.

I have installed your VOIP ROM, and run it through its paces (as best I can).

Re: the ## codes, curiously the ones that worked before (see my prior post above) still work, but with a # at end. The ones that did not work before (again, see prior post) still do not work, but there is hope: they turn on for a second, before being turned off automatically. My guess is that there is something in a dll somewhere that mucks with the ## codes from the sprint stuff (just a guess).

Re: the VOIP, I am still working on getting that going. I tried making a _setup.xml file, and storing it on my unit (per instructions on xda-developers), but when I tap on the Setup VOIP part, nothing. I havent gotten it to work yet. But, I don't want to give up; it is a cool concept to me to know that I will have BOTH a VOIP phone (able to make calls from any HotSpot) and a Sprint cell phone in the compact format of a Mogul 6800.

On a stability note, the ROM itself seems a little rough from your r5, showing lags on dialing and slowness responding as compared to r5.

Thanks again for this great ROM, and I hope to be able to report some progress over the next few days.

I THINK that this is actually just controlled by epst2.pst that i need to copy over from the sprint OEM. The ## codes run pst with some parameter to open the right screen. The fact that it flashes like that means that the ## codes are done - now the work is to EPST. im hoping its not a dll as i have zero experience with dll hacking. If anyone can share info on EPST please post or pm me.

I think that this is because of the source I was using for VoIP. The dll files were files, not modules. I have a better package now and I have gotten schaps' Setup_VoIP to run. Stay tuned.

I agree. There is still some work I did in r5 (now 1.1.5) that still needs to be redone, as I have redone my entire setup about 3 times now. Remind me what winmo build was on the rom I gave you in settings, about: 18508 or 18533? Also, r5/1.1.5 is 8mb pagepool - what I gave you had 6mb pagepool. Maybe I need to stick with 8.

thanks again for the feedback.

Now- based on your feedback and many others who wanted internet sharing, I have made a decision: I want to keep the "clean rom" just that, and I think that VoIP and sharing are discardable items that should not be in a clean rom. However, some people want other things in ROM. Thus I will begin posting "dcd's custom rom" including some other packages - see post 1. The core will be entirely identical to my clean rom, the only difference being added packages.

I just dont think that there is a happy medium between clean rom and custom rom and so I will build them as 2 separate lines.

same as clean rom with these additions:
HTC Home 2.0, HTC X-Button 1.51, Sprint IOTA,new battery icons, VoIP, WiFi Internet Sharing, TaskManager, Mark all as read extension

ok quick question for the custom rom, if for instance there is a substitute program i wanna use instead of one of the ones included, is it pretty easy to remove one of them since they're bundled with the rom....For instance i like Magic Button over HTC x-button, is there a way i can disable x-button or uninstall it?
One more question do you have an internet sharing cab that i could just install on the clean rom that works? i have a crummy copy that doesn't do much...

Thx again

Additional Feedback

Build on the VOIP ROM was 18508 (NOT 18533).

How much of a memory hit is there in available RAM in going from 6MB pagepool to 8MB pagepool? Just curious (and I would not want the RAM on my 6800 to be significantly less).

Cool that you got Schapp's VOIP tool working. Any chance you also got the Advanced Configurator going as well? Would love to test that for you.

Also, as an addition to your non-clean ROM, please check out the recent inroads made by one of our 6800 brethren at xda-developers: post #192 @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...332360&page=20. Looks like Internet Sharing can come back in, in a modified format, no?

Thanks again for a wonderful ROM. I love it on my phone.

I'm patiently waiting for the dcd customer rom with the Voip client built in. It seems that you are using nochems's .7 aku as a base. I love that rom, and it is very stable.

The only problem i had with it is no MMS, no Voip and the user agent was not right for viewing picture mail.

I believe that the merge of your ROMs will be the ultimate "clean" Rom for performance and storage.

Thanks again for the hard work dcd and nochem!!
