Congrats, dcd. Nice work.

TurboFool 10-16-2007 05:13 PM

Love the idea. I might just try this one. A couple of questions:

How would I add back any of these functions that I need, such as Office Mobile?

Why use X-button 1.51 instead of the newer 2.0? Are there issues with 2.0 or other benefits to using the older version? With you including 1.51, is it still possible for me to upgrade it to 2.0?

dcd 10-16-2007 06:05 PM

look elsewhere

Tenny 10-16-2007 06:35 PM

Glad to see some clean roms finally, I'll wait for 10/22 and hope for a clean rom then.

The memory seems kind of low, was that right after the install and boot? The first time i booted off the Alltel it reported roughly 26mb.

windows messenger cab ? stock sprint rom...

I'm interested in tryin this rom but i don't have a GOOD up todate windows messager cab file. oh well. if and when i can find that. I'll give this baby a try.

dishe 10-17-2007 02:16 AM

Hey DCD, glad to see you put it back out for public use. Stuff this good shouldn't be kept bottled up. :)

dishe 10-17-2007 04:20 PM

You know, the linked Office 2007 files are for the new "improved" office 2007 with one note.
I just want to have good ol' Excel to keep of things when I make bank deposits, etc...
Don't like one note very much, nor do I really care for the new features in 2007 since I don't use office 2007 on my desktop either (I'm an Open Office guy myself).

Does anyone have any way to install the STOCK office apps? Dcd, could we perhaps create a cab for that one?

jamesus 10-18-2007 04:08 PM

Nice work dcd.

How's the RAM in this ROM? I like the storage memory! :)

dcd 10-18-2007 04:28 PM

edit: office now out of clean rom, 6.1+onenote into custom rom

What's going to be different in the final build vs. b4?

codyppc 10-18-2007 07:55 PM

it maybe to late for requests, but I would like a totally clean version with no apps. just the fixes. keep the audio, keyboard, ect fixes in there. remove the apps like htc x button. reason is some don't use it. I use something else for me close button. plus what happens when htc x 2.5 comes out?

I guess as long as we could still remove the apps that's still good.

don't get me wrong dcd. I am way greatful of your work. I thankyou for sharing. I have been trying to download you b4 all day yesterday and couldnt . i'll now just wait for the final.

ppcgeeks error 500 for 2 days. lol

edit: apps now out of clean rom, into custom rom

dishe 10-18-2007 08:58 PM

Hey, does removing Office also inhibit the notes app?

I found that while there is a notes icon, I can't get it open! I can't figure out why this would be, but the notes application is just dead. I need that for writing stuff down during a phone call, so I'd better be able to figure out how to put that back...

does it work for anyone else?

willysp 10-19-2007 12:39 AM

Hey - it's real cool to see folks building and sharing their custom ROMs.

Kudos!

But, no offense, your title is a bit mis-leading. You're not offering a clean ROM. You're offering a custom ROM in which you've deleted standard things you don't like, and added extra things you like.

Perfectly OK, of course.... But, it's not a 'clean' ROM.

codyppc 10-19-2007 11:50 AM

I left had this happen today for the first time running live search. I am running the sprint stock ROM though right now. ran a few of the custom and alltel roms but was holding out for dcd's_NoJunkROM

codyppc 10-19-2007 11:53 AM

as for the no internet issue... or where you have internet connected but program can't connect.....

If you are going for a "base" ROM, I would include live/messenger. I'm not sure how many people use it (I actually use Live), but my guess is you will have people complain either way. I would include it as we have a ton of storage, especially when compare to the Apache!

nFKT 10-19-2007 02:28 PM

but can't you install live via cab after install.... If so, why include anything that could be installed either on the device or storage card later? I personally don't use live

Vertigo 10-19-2007 03:01 PM

I just did a hard reset and also reinstalled the ROM with no luck... I will try a different ROM and let you know, I think Cody was having hte same problem.

Cicatrize 10-19-2007 03:20 PM

Thanks for sharing, but the main reason I got a pocket PC is so I could have messengers, Adobe Reader, and Office Mobile. Voice Dialing is a nice feature too. Not really knocking your ROM, but I would think that a lot of people use those applications.

Id have to agree, Anything that can be obtained via cab should be left out if you want a true "clean" style rom... That way It may take time, But every user can customize from that point as they see fit...
