Coming from WP7 to android & the Thunderbolt?

Hey guys, whats up. All i can say is i've used Windows ever since the apache came out in like 2003 so using android will be different for me but i had a couople of questions since it will be delivered tommorrow. I just sold my HTC HD7 which was buttery smooth, but i just wanted something different all of a sudden. Will I still be able to use and edit excel files on it? Is 4g on Verizon really that much faster? I know it is in all the speedtest but I mean real-world situations like downloading youtube, web surfing and things like that. Do I have to root just to get cool apps? I just have no clue so wondering if you guys can help me out and give me some peace of mind that i did the right thing. Thanks in advance.

Re: Coming from WP7 to android & the Thunderbolt?

ouch you probably made a wrong decision financially wise too. Android does not run as smooth as wp7 does because there is not really any good hardware acceleration built in yet and there are alot of background processes that demand being ran with no real way to control them without causing other problems. 4G is a huge battery sucker there's even threads on here about the battery issues on 4G. rooting will give u the ability to sideload apps, tether for free and the ability to flash custom roms which may provide additional functionality but be careful as some custom roms may break some of the default functionality.
