Music stops or skips when screen turns off / Turn off auto-lock?

Two questions...

No matter what I am listening (steam / mp3) to on any players when I turn off the screen to save battery the music stops / skips

and

Is there anyway to turn off auto-lock. So to lock the screen I have to do it manually? I can not find the setting.
