Re: Not an official forum without Home Screens!

Well, I just made my first wallpaper using HDWalls and I'm fairly pleased. My only problem is that it changed my icon set in the task bar. I guess I can reload the .cab that gave me the ones I had, but I'd like to know why this happened. Some option in HDWalls I should/shouldn't have taken?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, someone once asked if the text color could be manipulated to allow better contrast for an installed wallpaper. Would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Not an official forum without Home Screens!

Ok, quick update... It didn't change my taskbar icon set. It just looked different when connected via active sync (battery icon different). It's just very hard to see with this wallpaper.

So, only one question... fonts, can they be tinkered much?

Hey there - glad to see you got it working! I was playing around with HDWALL last night and just could not figure it out. Do you have a step by step instructional that you followed or would you be able to post your step by step instructions on how you got it to work?

Also, did you get it to work for landscape too? Using BG4All seems to have the usual scaling/zooming problems that everyone's reported.

Thanks!

Thank you for the link. I did download the programs. Now if I wasn't so chicken...

I used the information from two different posts to use the HDWalls program and I'm going to post the information here (easier than finding the original links). I want to say up front that this information comes from "fwaits" and another user (I'm sorry but I can't remember who). They effectively said the same thing and I made my directions from theirs. I added a few notes which are in purple. I did not try this in landscape mode. I'll have to say that I had already applied a lot of the cabs that I found in this forum so some of that may have helped this to work for me (full screen transparent background for instance).

The next time I create a wallpaper I'll rewrite my notes but for now I can tell you that this definitely worked for me... good luck!

Open HDWall and click on Load.
Select your background image (preferably 480x800, but can be other sizes and will be resized/cropped.) Make sure the Target and Selection sizes are 480 x 800. (Might need to Auto crop & resize or Resize Full Image)

Check the 2 Opacity sliders and make sure they are 0 for full transparency.

Hit Apply then Close that window.

[Optional]
Repeat the steps above for Landscape, but rotate the image as desired and resolution will be 800 x 480.

Now on the main window go to Config.

Select TouchFLO v2.0 - No Compression - Home Tab (Or All Tabs if you like)

Note: This is from another post: “If you want transparent task and menu bars then select 'WM 6.5 - TouchFLO v2.1 - No Compression - All Tabs' then click OK”. I did NOT select this option and got those transparencies anyway… perhaps another .cab I’d already Installed?)

Click the Advanced Profile Editor selection near the bottom and it will expand the window.

Check the box for WM6.5 Taskbar and SoftKey Skinning

Click OK.

Under Application Title put whatever you want to call this. (Will show up in the Remove Programs window)
Please note: The CAB file created will be called 'MyWallpaper.cab' regardless of what title you inserted under 'Application Title'. But the name you call it will show up in the “uninstall applications” screen.

Choose a destination path and filename for your cab file.

Select the options to Include Portrait Wallpaper and Landscape Wallpaper (If used) along with the default checked items Automatically Restart TouchFLO 3D, and Delete Wallpaper Manila files after CAB creation.

Press Convert and lt it do it's thing for a minute or 2.

After that is done, press Create CAB and you are done in the app.

Copy the cab file you just made to your phone and run it after you go into Settings Today and toggle TouchFLO off. Restart your device and when it reboots you should have a full transparent wallpaper on the home screen or all tabs depending which option you chose. Hope this helps.

FYI, an uninstall will return it back the way it was.

You're right of course... just me going further than I need to. I read through the links to the script stuff and all of that.

I guess I was looking for a more nuts and bolts approach (which may be beyond me) that would allow me to tinker font colors as well as styles, maybe on a case by case basis? One font for this, another for that, rather than system wide stuff.

I'll give the fonts another look but I believe they're all white fonts? Here's a "for instance"... the Imagio logo on my screen says "HTC Quietly Brilliant" (got that cab in this forum) but with my new background the "Quietly Brilliant" part can't be seen. I'd like to learn where in the phone that logo is stored and how to change the color of the script part.

What do I need to learn for that? How to tinker Manillas? Cabs? Is there a book or tutorial which has such information in it?

Thanks again for your help on this and for putting up with my previous ramblings... You've helped me in the past a lot!

Thank you for the links. I will check them both out. I've also been following another thread that you and others have been discussing about manila editors and the Mode9 stuff. I've been reading non stop and my head is spinning. Just keeping track of all the information is daunting. I have folders full of links and information to read.

I'm enjoying this phone very much and thanks to you and lot's of others, I've learned a lot in a short time. So far, everything I've tried has worked... so far.
