I completely agree with you. So everyone just be careful with it. I think Verizon gets enough of our money already each month.

Re: Internet Sharing on the Imagio

Both the ICS and HTC Wifi router software worked for me. I had issues previously trying to get the HTC wifi software working after having instaled WMWifirouter. I decided to do a factory restore and start over. Using these instructions only on a factory reset Imagio works good.

Note: While it does show up in the comm manager, I have not been able to use the on/off. I have to go to the program itself and start it.

I have spoken to them on several occasions about the wireless internet stuff - if you don't use the tethering software then technically yes, it's unlimited internet. Until they change that at least, but in the mean time, you're definitely OK surfing the net using your own means to tether your phone. I've had two reps tell me, over the phone, that it was OK to do and as long as you're making the changes and supporting it yourself, you can use it all you'd like.

I used my old Palm Centro phone an entire weekend on it. I think I racked up close to 500 megs worth of data playing WoW on my laptop over it. ;)

I'm posting here to let you know and registering because I want to try this on my new Imagio now. :)

Edit: Got it working. Though I did notice one thing, the first file causes my phone to crash often in the file explorer. If I turn off error reporting, it stops, but I'm wondering if maybe I already had whatever that first file added.

Re: Internet Sharing on the Imagio

OK I have wifi sharing working well with a choice in comm manager.

However ever since I made the mod my WIFI choice is greyed out (and on) with a note saying "Turn On WiFi Automatically"

How do I get this choice back?

If I go to settings connections and select WiFi on it works fine.

ALso, if anyone has the original registry subtree for the commManager that might let me fix this myself.

Thanks!

Rick

Following the instructions on page one went well, I just wish there was a way to have the screen turn off. I have my phone locked, but it is still glowing.....

Hello Froda,

Glad the instructions helped you. Now you can help me build up my rep here by clicking on the "Thanks" button. Just trying to build a little credibility on these forums.

Press and hold the End key. When the menu comes up press Turn Off Screen? That doesn't work?

Bluetooth is way too slow. Max theoretical is about 780kbps, isn't it?
But I don't think there is a BT solution yet.

For wireless can't you use the WiFi app? - unlike BT, that gets you full speed from "the network". :D
