Screen won't turn off when playing music or streaming

I've got the stock Verizon ROM. I notice that even though I have it set to sleep after 2 minutes of inactivity in the Energy Panel, it won't turn off when I'm listening to audio (using WMPlayer or SiriusWM6). The screen dims alright, but I want it to go off (to save battery and be unresponsive to touches if I put it into my pocket) when I am listening for long periods of time but not using the screen. How do I make it turn the screen off if a sound app is running but the screen isn't touched in X minutes? Ideally I'm hoping for a tweak/setting that would apply to all apps (or could take a list of apps), not a single setting in a specific player app.
