Question Internet Connection Sharing

Is using the USB Internet Connection Sharing the same as using the phone as a wifi router or does that require the extra $15 a month payment to verizon?

Re: Internet Connection Sharing

You know - I have tried so many times to get a straight answer on that question. But I always get a mixed response. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

5G is $30 a month. But the free Wifi is almost just as fast.

**Edit** -I double checked the Verizon website just to make sure I didn't provide bogus info. Their web site says they have a plan - 5G for $15 a month (on sale for $10 right now). But I don't know if you will be eligible for that plan. I tried to get it before and they said something about "...only being eligible if I was paying for certain other features..." I ended up having to pay $30 a month. (I just got my phone and knew nothing about the Wifi feature.)

Well, I've been using Verizon for 9 months now and I've been using Tom Codon's Wifi for tethering and have downloaded movies, mp3's, surfed, chatted, etc. and other than the 29.99 a month required for a smartphone, I've incurred no extra charges at all. I've even had my PS3 and Xbox 360 tethered at the same time and no extra fees on my bill. However, when I flashed to a new ROM and went to sync it for the first time, it did automatically connect to the internet sharing, which does incur charges. I made an adjustment so that doesn't happen any longer. But the USB tethering, without the 5G plan, will charge the daylights out of you. Plus a free wireless hotspot is kinda hard to beat.

Re: Internet Connection Sharing

AFAIK, it works just the same. At least I haven't been charged anything for using it that way!
