Re: Whitestone Android It Booted!!!
Some News
There's been some progress. The kernel is kinda booting now. We're still a long way's off but at least its doing something. We can now see text scrolling and a lovely picture of tux. Since LUC@X seems to have disappeared, we kinda had to start over but the xdandroid devs have been totally awesome in helping our collective asses We kinda need to get our own team together though. I'm gonna try my best but I'm no kernel hacker, so if anyone wants to join me please don't hesitate. We DO need help! I'm told that the reason why none of the kernels worked is because the whitestone/imagio has only one die of ram instead of two and the kernel is not programmed to recognize it. This happens on other devices too and its the reason why the topaz kernel seemed to be the only one working. Using an experimental, monodie only kernel (a later version of the one LUC@X was using), we managed to get ahead a bit. I'll keep you guys posted but PLEASE, if you can help, please do so. We need coders mostly but also testers who can write clearly in english/spanish/german. (It's no good to test if you can't communicate the results and those are the languages we understand ) Here's a summary of the progress so far: Code:
+ Booting on emwe's monodie kernels: Tests were performed using FRX07 and swapping kernels/modules only. The old kernel has no modules file. The Android Debugging Bridge (adb) doesn't work on either kernel. - Using the old, experimental kernel mentioned in this [1] thread: Produces two vibrations after haret and a white screen. The system seems to be booting meanwhile and eventually goes into power saving mode, blacking out the screen but leaving the backlight on. Using HARET scripting as indicated here [2], it produces the following log [3]. The log is all jibberish after that final error. IMPORTANT NOTE: The kernel produces no data.img when executed through HARET scripting, however it DOES spit out a data.img when executed normally through HARET. However, the screen is blank and its impossible to tell whats going on differently. It eventually reaches an error that loops every 120 seconds. HARETscripting logs, obtained with the same method as before, are here [1] . NOTE: This kernel does NOT produce a data.img file. With or without HARETscripting. [1] http://paste2.org/p/1593601 |

Re: Whitestone Android It Booted!!!

Re: Whitestone Android It Booted!!!
I felt like translating the post above, so here it is.
Dear friends, I was in China imagio users, of course, held by some smuggling machine, because imagio can support two 3g network is very useful to me in here, cdma radio has been rewritten by the use of our nation's cdma uim card! 3g data and can be applied! However, due to the mobile phone hardware reasons, in our country, whether rom, or android, have no break! The forum also saw those rom really beautiful, very much, hope to have a White. Stone as a beautiful rom, forum friends want to give us a kitchen, so we can make a beautiful Chinese system!

Re: Whitestone Android It Booted!!!
Hi there... I'm trying to compile a linux kernel for our whitestone devices, from kernel's HTC Eris source code from HTCdev - HTC Kernel Source Code and Binaries. Because that phone shares same MSM7600 processor with whitestone devices. I'm keeping the idea of the monodie memory, so I hope it works. If anyone knows it's not gonna work, please let me know.
Also, I want to extract with split_bootimg.zip the kernel (zImage) from a Eris's rom, to try off. Any information about the startup.txt that may work with that kernel is welcome. PD: If we share our knowledge, we could run this thing soon. |
