Question Gmail App or Exchange, which is better?

Does anyone have any reason to use one or the either?

I'm currently using the Gmail app to sync my gmail contacts/calendar/mail. But using exchange would do the same. So is the only difference the app?

Using Gmail App we can:
1) archive and do many gmail related actions.

Using Stock email client with exchange setting:
1) Quicker?
2) Unread count on the icon.
3) efficient use of battery?

I think the gmail app is a little slower and might drain battery, but dont know.

what do you fellow geeks think? Vote above!

Use gmail to sync my personal items and use touch down for exchange to sync work things. All though I'm still in the debate of paying for it right now.

Re: Gmail App or Exchange, which is better?

I'm not sure if the default mail client keeps the mail on the SD card, it does keep the attachments. So I say Gmail, given it does confirm it with an option.
I hate using internal storage.

The default has, Gmail app doesn't:

Copy & Paste
Better look (Sense UI theme)
Attachment view
New Mail preview in notifications (barely)

^This upsets me becuase I want the best of both worlds lol
I set my college email (Google Apps) & corporate mail to the default app.

Re: Gmail App or Exchange, which is better?

If you receive an email in the default app, you can add the sender to your contacts. You can't do that from the Gmail app.

Re: Gmail App or Exchange, which is better?

one thing i noticed with the Gmail App is that I cant preview videos or mp3s; nor can we download them. Has anyone else had that problem? This is making me want to switch to stock client.
