Anyone download Overclock Widget yet (requires root access)?

I just downloaded it, and it seems to make the phone run faster. I have two profiles setup. One for when the screen is off, and the other for when the screen is on.

Screen off:
Min 128000
Max 245760

Screen on:
Min 384000
Max 528000

I'm not sure how battery life will be affected just yet, as I downloaded the app about an hour ago. But I'll take a bump in performance for some hit in battery life.

Just want to see if anyone else has used this program, and likes it, or if you think it's a waste of space.

Holy crap... overclock the hero?

But wait... those numbers seem like regular specs of the phone...

Yes, but this app was created for the G1, which has the same speed processor of 528MhZ. I'm not sure if that's the amount of overclocking, or if that's the absolute processor speed.

The G1 runs around 400Mhz normally so that overclocking app isn't doing squat for the Hero clockspeed wise LOL! As the Hero already runs at 528Mhz normally.

The hero runs 528mhz normally, but sadly allot of the devs are peggin on the fact its not possible to overclock the hero past 528mhz, but anything is possible, just not atm lol

Interesting to see. I haven't noticed any difference as the max it gives is the current Processor speed. IT would work great if it allowed the unit to maintain that speed to prevent the unit from bogging down. You also have to look at the downside. These apps also can also shorten the life of the processor causing damage rapidly

Re: Anyone download Overclock Widget yet (requires root access)?

I use this and now my Hero is overclocked to 750mhz , I've messed with having the phone run at 250mhz when the screen is off and if I get a call it I don't get it. I try to force it to run 528mhz minimum and my battery was no worse. Dont know about the overclock yet, haven't had it runnin like this for more than a day yet

Re: Anyone download Overclock Widget yet (requires root access)?

I used the OC widget when I was with Fresh Toast 2.1, but after a day, or so, it would get really laggy. It would take forever for the screen to come on when it was sleeping. Also, I wouldn't be able to answer the phone before it went to voicemail. I could hear the phone ringing, but the screen wouldn't let me do anything.

When I went to Darchdroid 2.6 AOSP rom, which was overclocked, I just let the rom handle the over clocking, and I got much better performance. Even Darch mentioned they are just memory hogs.

YMMV, however.

Yeah I'm startin to see that now, it helps that I bumped up the minimum clock to 528mhz, I think to slap the processor around from 250 to 750 was too much or something. (not to mention 250mhz being too week to run all the back processes while the phone is off).
Seems a bit better now, but even overclocked all that improved was emulator performance everything else is sameish
