Ok so I rooted my Hero last night and now i would like to know what apps are for rooted users only. I search the forum and goolge and the only one I could find was the wifi tether and nothing else. If anyone one knows of any plz let me know.

did ti look something like this minus your SDK file names different

cd C:\AndroidSDK1\tools
adb push asroot2 /data/local/
adb shell
chmod 0755 /data/local/asroot2
/data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh


mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cd /system/bin
cat sh > su
chmod 4755 su

Picme, Shootme, Move Cache, Better Terminal Pro... There are plenty out there.

How do you figure out if it requires root access or not and can you get them in the android market, or another source?

picme or shootme will let you know . they are apps for root ed only . it they work you are good , if it gives you an error when you try to run it then your not

k thanks I installed picme and it worked fine. I'm a noobie to android (came from wm) and i'm loving this phone

Its cool honestly we all are pretty much newbies. It helps aot if you know Linux . If not the good thing is by the time your done you will know a little something about it.....
welcome to the family..... Also go add that Gutted Add on . it imporves the speed and adds a few other little quirks....... check your sleep time first before you install and tehn compare after....Aslo do a nandroid back up first before any updates is always recommended

I tried to root my phone for 2 hrs last night and I can't seem to get it right if someoe could pm me or give me better instructions I would appreciate it

Where are you having trouble? Did you enable usb debugging?
