What's with the ads on my phone?

I've had the hero for a week.
Yesterday, ads started scrolling at the bottom of the screen.
I totally blew a gasket when I saw this! WTF- didn't I just pay an arm & a leg plus another 2 yr contract? I DO NOT want f'ing ads on my phone. I've already accidently hit one once when selecting something else on the screen.
Can you tell I'm not happy? Please make me happy again and tell me how to get rid of it! So far my only solution is to uninstall any app in which the ads have appeared.

It's Google, you will have ads.

i kinda learned to phase them out lol

a lot of apps come free with ad support and a cheap paid version ad free...

hmm.. I hadn't checked free vs paid apps, but that would be because the ads didn't show up until after I downloaded open home full/paid version. So I checked sudoku, and yes, the ads are only in the free version. One mystery solved. I haven't used open home long enough yet to see if that has ads.
Why do you suppose it took days for the ads to start appearing?
Also, interestingly enough, mistyping "flu shots" as "fu shots" in the browser search sent me to porn sites! LOL!

Weird, I never seen ads outside the free version apps, ever.

Thats because there aren't any. The adds only scroll in specific apps, and its ONLY in free apps. Many times, that is the ony difference between a free an a paid version.

I would suggest that, if you hate adds with the apparent, fiery, burning passion that you display, OP, you start skipping free apps all together. I haven't seen a free app yet that doesn't have adds.
