Do you sometimes not receive alerts for your gmail notifications?

I work in a quiet office environment, with my phone sitting on my desk most of the time, about 12" from my hands. Sometimes, I will notice my green LED flashing, and I turn on the screen, and I have a new email. I never received a chime, or vibration. Sometimes, I receive the chirp, and the vibration. I have my gmail open on my computer, so it is a little redundant, so I'm not too concerned. Just wanted to see if others have noticed a similar occurrence. And it happens with a soft reset, as well. All my settings would indicate that I should be notified with a chime, and a vibration.
