Re: I must be a moron because I can't find the answer.....
1. No/No
2. Never had a data problem that a soft reset didn't fix. 3. Video Player, free, works great. 4. Mail app and Gmail app are disconnected. Gmail won't show up for contacts, at least not for me. It isn't being integrated til android eclair 2.0

Here are my responses: 1. Will the MMS/VV messages remain suspended and held until you go back on EVDO and then received, or are they gone for good? I know you'll be alerted of regular voicemail, but then does that download to VV, or just remain plan old voicemail? 2. So you have seen the data thing happen? I suppose it's not too big of a deal, as long as there is some sort of data (WIFI) happening, but I'm hopeful it doesn't happen regularly where you wouldn't notice until 8 hours after the fact and you have missed a bunch of stuff. After I soft reset, it eventually stopped roaming. 3. Market I presume for that app? Doesn't cause any issues with existing stock program? 4. I'm testing this one out with one of my contacts, but Gmail Sync appears to be down for the time being. I may have to disagree with you here (I most likely didn't make myself clear) because that was a big thign that HTC pushed with their Sense UI, was the integration of all modes of communication in the "People" App. Lemme know what you think...and again, thanks as always. |

Yea I had a problem the other way, wifi wouldn't work and I was stuck in 1x. A soft reset fixed it. I haven't noticed roaming problems, maybe the whole thing was a tower problem and not your phone. I haven't had any trouble with it, and yea its in the market. It is a super light app that many people swore by so I tried it and loved it. Plays my vids from my wm phones perfectly. That's fine I like to be challenged. I get what you are saying. I was saying that Gmail and Mail are separate. I haven't gotten a gmail message in my people app, but I am not saying that it can't happen. Anytime bro. EDIT: I see where I said it wrong about gmail. The Gmail and Mail app are integrated in 2.0, it looked like I meant the email and people apps. Last edited by thacounty; 10-23-2009 at 03:00 PM. |

I'll keep you updated on anymore roaming/data issues, for other's use...if anyone's interested. I'll give Video Player a try! Thanks. Yea, I was a bit confused about the mail/Gmail integration thing....but you straightened it out I'm still waiting for my Google "Test Contact" to sync with my phone to see what shows up. |

Here's a new one for everyone.....after pretty much a day of doing nothing on the phone except a few texts (GPS and WIFI were on all day), I got home and started playing with the phone. It got SOOOOOOOOOO slow (and I'm not nitpicking, I'm talking WinMo-hang-slowness....believe me, I understand a little bit of lag, but this was insane!) so I checked the Applications and Manage Applications. Now I know everyone's first answer is "get a task manager, etc" but I am not going to give into that, because I believe it'll cause more problems, or at least potential for more problems, by adding more variables to the equation if something goes wrong. I was looking at some of the applications that seem to be using quite a bit of RAM/ROM and had a question for the community: The biggest 3 applications were: Mail - 34.80 MB (34.25 MB Data + 556 KB Cache) and using 6.78 MB Ram Contacts Storage - 4.09 MB total (all data) and 11.56 MB RAM com.android.providers.calendar - 2.78 MB total (all data) and 11.02 RAM What does everyone else's look like? I know I'm not going to be touching the Contacts Storage or com.android.providers.calendar stuff, but what happens if I clear my data and cache in mail? I have it hooked to an Exchange Server at work. What exactly gets cleared, and will that help with any of my lag? Do these numbers look pretty representative of everyone else's? Any input is appreciated. |

What I have noticed is that home doesn't kill an app. If I press home the load time going back into an app when I pick it is much faster than if I use the back button to get home. Also if I use the back button and back out of an app it doesn't show up on task manager, I think this means it is closed. What I suggest is using the back button, not home, to get out of your apps. I also do suggest a task manager, not killer, because backing out of every page in your browser gets super slow! But since you said not to mention one I take it back haha. |
