totally agree!! i have no idea why so many people are so eager to root their hero... why?? I understand if there was some slick new UI you want to install or to have Android 1.6, but when it comes to having it "just work" when it comes to speed, stability, features, customization, apps to choose from, UI, etc. its all there and then some

well....ALMOST everything works

The battery drain thing is a little worrisome, but I truly believe that Spring/HTC will rectify that pretty quickly.

Other than that, this thing is pretty darn amazing. I really liked my Touch when I got it too, but after seeing even the simplest of things that a 3rd party piece of software could add to it, it left one to wonder why the heck it wasn't implemented in the OS to begin with. I haven't gotten that impression with this device yet. Everything included makes sense. If there is something you can think of this thing SHOULD be able to do, there is a way, out of the box, to do it.
