complaints.... where??? I have only seen the text messaging issue which is caused by task killer apps, and a total of two people saying that its laggy from the dozens of threads and reviews i have seen. From my stand point, i dont even need to root the device or a firmware update to fix anything since its running perfectly out of the box. I just download some apps and enjoy the rest.

i think its a great phone and i have nothing to complain about. and as far as the upgrade to 1.6 i'd like to have it but i don't think its that big of a deal
and as far as rooting, it'll come eventually so just get the phone and enjoy for a while then tweak it

i was playing with a hero at a sprint store in nyc, and the text was kinda laggy. i'm sure this will get fixed, so i'm going to buy it anyways.

I feel like I'm the only that is not flash happy. Sure I can't wait get root and to flash 1.6 or a custom rom of sorts. But after that I'm not sure we are going to need to flash as much as we would with WM. Personally I'm not going to miss 15 chefs all claiming their rom is better. Thankfully there is no insta 'kitchen' for the hero, so intergalactic mega chefs won't be happening as much. :drunken:

i'm in the same boat, i'd be nice to tweak with them but i'm not that worried about, its nice to have a phone that i'm happy with that i don't have to flash/tweak/mod etc

I may be WAYYY out of line on this, because while I like to think I know a little bit about this stuff, I am nowhere near the level of expertise of most users here; however, I came over from the HTC Touch on WM and never used a custom ROM, but I get the gist of what it's all about....basically making your phone as much your own as possible and tricking/tweaking it to levels way beyond the realm of what WM allows or envisioned....isn't that EXACTLY what Android is all about? I mean, sure, there are things that could always be tweaked, but for the most part, the entire OS platform of Android is built on the "open" frame of mind. Is there really that much more that can be done?

I certainly don't mean any disrespect to anyone with this post, I guess I'm just more curious than anything to see what people's thoughts are on this. The way I look at it, Android is for the most part an "open ROM" paradise in which everyone (even the technologically stupid like myself) can be pseudo-chefs :)

Re: should i?....

@ToxicToastKatz, I kind of have to agree with you here. Android is supposed to be developed with that openness in mind. BUT, it's a great platform/phone AS IS. Where as WinMo... Not so much. So like jbearamus said, I love having a phone I'm happy with out of the box. It's so refreshing to not be digging the forums for the next ROM to flash... Not because it has great new things, but because things are broken the current ROM. With my Hero so far, everything just works...
