I just set it up to send me an actual sms and turned vibrate/sound off of the google voice app. That way, i get the texts, but if one doesn't come through, which hasn't happened yet, i'll still see the google voice icon in my staus bar and be able to read it.

Gotcha. So you don't know if it turns the phone on? I have missed more than 3 today.

I am noticing that I am not getting anywhere near all my texts. Was talking to a friend last night, sent a reply, and apparently she sent 3 messages after that, I didnt receive any of them. I have noticed this problem since I got the phone. I did not have this issue with my TP. That update better fix this, or I am going to demand a trade out to a TP2.

text 9999 with the message "all messages" no quotes. Fixed my Hero in less than 5 minutes.

never heard that before. hmmm i might have to try that out.

ok so ive had this problem to. but not while i was running stock.

i got this problem of not recieving any texts while using Gumbo Kernel with FRESH and with TTG and with GUMBO 1.5c. although Genjinaro is running Modaco and GUMBO kernel just fine. so im going to be testing that out.

i also use Handcent as i like that i can theme it. and i use Process Manager as well. but the issue has gone away since i removed the gumbo kernel. so if anyone is having issues with text still and you have the gumbo kernel try something different and see if that helps

I've had my Hero since Nov '09. Within 2 weeks I stopped being able to receive picture text messages. After several trips to the Sprint store for tech support, 2 factory resets, installing/uninstalling Chompsms countless times, switching to Handcent SMS, I still end up with the same resulsts - force close, and randomly, for no apparent reason, all my text messages will erase, my conversation list goes blank, oh and when I do get text messages, I STILL cannot open picture text messages. I shut my phone off and turn it back on almost daily. I am beyond frustrated, getting more and more mad each day. I am tired of going to the Sprint stores for help, clearly it's not working, and I don't have time to sit on hold or on the phone with a tech who I can't understand for hours at a time - is anyone else experiencing this problem? Recommendations?

So, my messages mysteriously vanished afer I had some error reading....I cant saerch right now cause I'm at work .... any assistance would be appreciated....

The fix for picture mail should be coming through Apr 9. The buzz is this will coincide with the 2.1 upgrade, but there is some type of update scheduled for Apr 9, and it relates specifically to picture mail. BGR, phone arena, and other sites confirm this.
