Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

The only issue i'm having with sms is that they all show up in a single thread. I'm recieving and sending them just fine, but it is annoying as hell to have no idea who sent the sms without actually opening it.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

yeah still have the same issue, when I get my old phone back (my pre I loaned out) I'm returning the Hero... Not really because of the issues so much as I'm waiting for Sprint to get the HTC Passion as I got a taste of what Android can do and I'm hooked and I love how HTC made the phone so I'm just going to wait for a faster phone with bigger screen.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

I texted "allow all" (without quotes) to 9999. Went into my google voice account and sent myself a text. I received it in less than 15 seconds.

I have been not receiving texts for about 6 days.

Now if they would only fix the 99% awake time issue.....

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

Ok, the problem I have is a bit different...

I'm receiving texts, but a lot of the time they are time stamped an hour before the current time. Anyone else?

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

As of 3 days ago Sprint has posted a notice that some HTC HERO phones may not be able to receive sms once a user has filled up the memory on the device.

Basically what happened in my situation was I went app crazy as I haven't seen this many apps since I got my iPod Touch and ran out of memory and didn't know it until I power cycled my device and ever since I haven't been able to receive sms though I can send them and I also couldn't get my VVM to activate after that.

According to sprint the device flags the system that it's memory is full and to stop sending (my understanding of their explanation that is) and despite removing apps or doing a hard reset or ##786# and MSL, sending a msg to I think 9999 and Allow All, updating PRL, Profile, and allowing not market app installs, or even loading a factory default rom from XDA will not fix it. Currently Sprint has investigated our reports but still determining the best way to fix it and if all else fails to fix this (meaning you should still call tech support if you haven't already) they recommend exchanging it since everyone is still under 30 days at the moment.

Not sure if this would effect every Device if you go app crazy and power cycle hours after hitting critical or if this is an android issue that neither sprint or google anticipated on the network but I hope it gets fixed soon. In my case my 30 days are almost up so the phone is going back and I will miss the on screen keyboard which is by far the best I've used and I will miss all the apps (especially the ones I paid for!!).

I may buy one off ebay and keep my upgrade eligibility once this is fixed or buy a Droid and try to use it on the now network or wait for Sprint to get either the HTC Passion or Motorola Droid.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

Is this still an outstanding issue? Are people still not receiving a number of their texts?

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

I've been with sprint for almost 10 years, & I've never had any problems with receiving text messages.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

I had this problem over last weekend. Did several hard resets, reflashed roms, etc. Nothing would fix it (even being on the phone with sprint). I eventually swapped it out with a new hero and no longer having any problems.

I was told by sprint that HTC is aware of this and is trying to collect this bad batch of hero's. Obviously, I took that with a grain of salt.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

Is anyone else having the problem of trying to text new contact or getting a text from an unsaved number and it showing up under a different name like a recently saved contact? This is really frustrating because i have to delete the whole thread just to get the correct persons pic and name in the text! Any help is appreciated...

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem

Hmmm. Just an FYI, i have had at least one person that has told me that she is sending me messages and I am not receiving them (its not every message, its intermintent). This is with an updated phone, handcent and stock, etc.

It does seem like I am getting less volume of texts since i upgraded.
