So, we didn't want to pay the extra $60 per month, on top of my phone plan, to have a wireless card.

So, speaking to the Sprint tethering situation in general. I still tether mine the 6 days a month I need to, and have had zero problems or complaints from sprint.

I was looking in this thread, because I want a Hero, but I also MUST keep the tethering function for my job. Every sprint person I talk to either on the phone or at a store always tells me "Any smart phone on the Sprint network can be tethered to a computer" However, I find different info on various forums.
Needs to be rooted but yes you can tether just like you can on the mogul. Only problem I have run into is that it makes the battery really hot with alot of constant use having it plugged into a charger. But the Mogul seemed to have the same problem when I had it too and was much slower as well. I usually have to let it cool off a bit every now and then to continue to use it. USB charging while tethering doesn't seem to work too well either. I get an error stating something like it doesn't have enough current to charge.

The AC adapter works better but like I said it tends to get hot. I sometimes take the back cover off to let it cool faster.
