Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

Ok so my hero has been sleeping properly for the last few days until I just checked it and saw that the awake time was 100%. Here's what I think the problem is and I would like to know if its causing anyone else's hero to stay awake.

I add the people widget from the HTC widget section and add contacts with the default action as sending an sms. The device will sleep fine up to this point. The problem is when I select a contact to send a sms. When I do this a selection box pops up and asks if I want to use Handcent or the stock messaging app. Of course I pick Handcent, type my message and send it. Then I notice my awake time never stops counting.

Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

I applied this fix last night and it's making a HUGE difference in battery life......along with disabling GPS and extending the frequency of the Hero checking email. I set 1 account to manual, 2 accounts to hourly and 1 to 30 minutes. This time yesterday I was already on the charger and then again on the way home. I charged up last night, took the phone off the charger around 11:30 and it's at 60-65 % right now. Thanks for the fix!!

Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

I've got something else keeping the phone "awake" is there a utility I can use to see what's keeping the phone awake? I am using centsms and that worked, however I have added a handful of other programs since and short of removing them all one at a time waiting a few days and trying again is there a faster way?

Thanks,
TL

Battery Discharge

Does anyone know of a quick way to fully discharge my battery without harming the battery and waiting for it to just die?

Re: Battery Discharge

Could always use a data intensive app like pandora and mute the speaker. That'll knock her out REAL quick. haha.

This should probably be stickied by the mods until a fix is issued, right?!

Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

i don't know if anyone mentioned this before, but when you charge your phone through the computer USB, your phone is "awake" while it's being charged. but when you charge it through the wall outlet, it's in "sleep" mode. so if you charge it on through your computer, your "awake" time is going to go up.

Question Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

Well, I have a brand new Hero from Cellular South...just started selling them yesterday. Added Handcent, disabled notifications in the stock sms.

Battery seemed to drain too fast (arbitrary observation on my part).

So, installed TasKiller this morning...guess what I saw running??? "Messages"!!! Killed it.

Now, if I send a message through Handcent, then "Messages" does not appear in the running list BUT if I receive a text...and only Handcent alerts, btw..."Messages" appears again in the list of running programs.

I am confident I must be overlooking the obvious but stuck nonetheless.

Help!
