While turning the other settings off can have some effect on different programs (Facebook, Twitter, Weather), turning GPS off doesn't effect anything (other than accuracy of location) until you need it.

I am on 5 hours off charger and only lost 30%. I'll update later to see where I'm at.
Well...when all was said and done....not really sure how/why, but by 6pm (approximately 10 hours off charger) i was down at 10% battery. Not sure how, but turning GPS off apparently didn't have any effect on battery life. I'm going to still tinker with settings, but what is everyone else getting for life?

Again, Facebook and Twitter update every 30 minutes and I have both widgets on the screens, weather updates automatically, I have Exchange Server setup grabbing items "as they arrive" and my location is on at all times. I realize that all of these things contribute to battery drain, and I'm not really complaining about 10 hours off a charge with all of those things going, but I'm just curious if anyone else has all these settings similar with moderate use of the device and what their battery life is.

From what I understand, 1.6 actually includes a power status grid with it so that you can identify what is killing the battery. That'll be nice.

Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

Ok I am thoroughly impressed I took my phone off the charger at 10am and now 14 hrs later at 12am I am at 9%. I have been using the phone moderately text web little gps and music with one exchange account running downloading every hour and Twitter every 30 mins. This is far beyond my expectations coming from the TP

Yup, synching my calendar here and no problems.

Did you update your voicemail software package?

Because you may think your phone is still not going to sleep after the handcent work out but in reality the voicemail app (the old one) also keeps the phone awake.

Re: Battery Issue Fix *Temp*

My phone is going to sleep properly until I sync my Google Calendar. I know this by checking my Awake Time compared to the Up Time. After I sync the Awake Time never stops counting. I'll update the voicemail but I doubt I'll sync my calendar with google until Sprint releases a fix.

It seems as though mine wouldn't also stop counting after I attempted contact sync through HTC Sync.

It definitely was not voicemail (in my case at least) because i have confirmed that it went to sleep both before and after stock voicemail update.

When you first open the voicemail program there should automatically be an update for you to do. The new version should be vn.5.0.0.32
